It has a classic sweet potato casserole, with a layer of marshmallows and then topped with oatmeal raisin cranberry cookie crust! This recipe is partly inspired by my Oatmeal Raisin Cranberry Cookies recipe. I added 1/4 cup chopped pecans which goes perfectly with the oatmeal cookie crust and sweet potato. If you prefer, you can substitute the same amount in walnuts or skip the nuts altogether. I found that the addition of pecans added a nice, subtle, nutty crunch to the casserole.

Should I put eggs in my sweet potato casserole?Should I Put Eggs In My Sweet Potato Casserole? Yes, sweet potato casseroles are best with eggs. Eggs add structure to the dish so that it's more than just a sweet potato mash. It's important to make sure the sweet potatoes have cooled enough before you mix in the eggs, otherwise they'll just scramble in the bowl.
Is sweet potato casserole the same as yams? No, yams and sweet potatoes are not the same. Yams have rough, dark brown skin that is often compared to tree bark, and their flesh is dry and starchy like a regular potato. Sweet potatoes have smooth reddish skin, softer flesh (when cooked), and a sweet flavor.
How can I spice up sweet potatoes? While sweet potatoes taste delicious with just a sprinkle of salt and pepper, a little extra seasoning really elevates the flavor.
