Take Out the DipstickThe first thing you need to do is pull out the dipstick. When you do this, make sure the engine is running and the vehicle is shifted to park or neutral. The dipstick will be in a specific place, depending on whether your vehicle has front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. For FWD vehicles, the dipstick will be located by the transaxle. This is by the front of your vehicle next to the oil dipstick. If you have a RWD vehicle, the dipstick is located near the back, usually behind the oil dipstick. Consult your vehicle’s manual to make sure you’re grabbing the right dipstick. RepeatSometimes, even if your fluid is texturally fine, your transmission could still lack the proper amount. See if the fluid line on your dipstick reaches the full mark. Clean the dipstick with a rag that doesn’t leave lint on it and reinsert it. Using a funnel, fill up your transmission fluid until it reaches the full line. Be careful not to overfill, and make sure you do this only when you’ve made sure the fluid in your transmission is viable.
