Cover Box Front & Back View Box Front & Back View Atlast, finally going to review another exclushit figure! Here comes Hasbro Lightning Collection: Lord Drakkon EVO III! Firstly, Lord Drakkon was a supervillain, an Evil Power Ranger who controlled the Black Dragon and battles the Power Rangers as the primary antagonist during the Shattered Grid event of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic books by Boom! Studios. Lord Drakkon is a tyrannical, older version of Tommy Oliver who hails from an alternate reality where he reigned over a technologically-advanced, dystopian Angel Grove as its oppressive ruler with his army of Ranger Sentries. Comic books? Well, since the whole series there’s no hint of his existence in the show so, I take it he’s not canon then… The character himself, he’s not Tommy we used to know in the show as he’s from a different universe called World of Coinless so, now Power Rangers are playing multiverse storyline like Dragon Ball series which is I’m totally bored with this kind of storyline. Even his purpose including killing all of his counterparts actually similar to Jet Li’s old movie called “The One”. Regarding his EVO III form, this is the ultimate form of Lord Drakkon under the use of Ninja Steel shard from Brody and mash it with all the remaining powersets, including those of the morphers he had already used, to attain this final form. This ultimate form was attained when Drakkon entered the Grid itself, seizing power from the Heart of the Master, giving him god-like powers that allowed him to reshape reality according to his will. EVO III? Yes, there’re also EVO I and EVO II waiting to be made someday but, let’s just focus on this first. Like Marvel Legends (ML) Logan and Xavier 2-pack, Lord Drakkon EVO III was supposed to be released and sold in San Diego Comic Con 2020 but, due to the Covid-19 outbreak the con was cancelled. Therefore, the figure was released as Hasbro Pulse Exclusive 2020, unlike the previous con release which is Armed TyrannoRanger and KingRanger (Jason) 2-pack, Lord Drakkon EVO III is a single figure included with extended box art and accessories such as mini diorama with large effect pieces. Box art, I have to say it’s 3 times bigger than regular Lightning Collection (LC) box art, while the actual contents itself aren’t that big it’s just way too wide thanks to his large effect pieces placement. Yes, I know the boxart is looking very luxurious, since they intended to design this to make him more like a collectible figure. Like Jason 2-pack, the box was included with extra outer packaging but, not designed to be a slipcased box style. Main box cover is generally made from a semi transparent plastic which we can barely see through inside, it was printed white with full of shattering/crack effects. The front part we get to see printed logo of “Power Rangers Lightning Collection”, with “Lord Drakkon EVO III” font representing the figure, then there’s warning sign, 4+ logo indicating for ages 4 and up and black and white colored hasbro logo. While the back part are mostly printed the same but, with warning signs in other languages, informations of the figure in several languages as well as code number and “Power Rangers” logo. Inside the outer case, we get to see large windowed box showing the full contents of the figure, I have to say this box is way too big for the contents themselves like it was designed for a display box with diorama and actually I got better idea for this instead of showing the so little contents. The lower part on the front was colored dark red with printed logo of “Power Rangers Lightning Collection”, with “Lord Drakkon EVO III” font representing the figure. Well, pretty much the same print like the shell cover lol but, the interesting part is all those logos I don’t see Saban’s name written on it except on that poster which there’s “Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (MMPR) logo… While the back part, it was actually sealed with a poster which I’m not a fan of the art style to be honest… I think I’ll be throwing this poster away and without the poster we finally get to see the actual promotional photo of the actual figure although… I’m not going to review exactly like this figure originally came since my Lord Drakkon EVO III was given special repaint treatment since once again that damned hasbro never failed me to give some defective part on my figure. Why this review took a long time was a long shot, because I tried to complain my issues to hasbro consumer care, at first they asked me to give the figure’s detailed informations. It was relieving at first but, in the end they’re very irresponsible to me. Yeah, so much for a customer care, contacting hasbro is a total waste of time. I really miss Bandai now, they made Super Sentai/Power Rangers figure alot better than hasbro to be honest. This review will be added extra stuffs which is why I added “+bonus” on this review title. Okay, time to check on this figure! Contents 01 Contents 02 Contents 03 Since my room is still under renovations, the photo contents is divided into 3 photos since I cannot use large light box: 1st photo we get to see the main figure along with 1 alternate Helmet Sculpt (HS), 1 Tommy Oliver Head Sculpt (HS), a pair of option hands and dark colored Byakkoshinken sword. 2nd photo is the accessories of a small rocky ground filled with 4 fallen MMPR helmets. And 3rd photo is 2 large semi transparent thunder effect pieces. Preview Pose Artwork of Lord Drakkon EVO III Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 30 Featuring Lord Drakkon EVO III with his helmet collections of the fallen rangers This evolution form of Drakkon is mostly donning black suit and gold armor, his black suit is plain black colored with grayish black and red trim, his armor consisted 2 arm bands, 4 gauntlets, gold chestplate with red shard of a Heart of the Master and black cape. While his helmet is black and gold with some red and his belt as well as dino buckler are mainly gold. His dino buckler coin was added black with red detailing, representing Black Dragon coin. His design is a mixture between DragonRanger from the gauntlets triangle motives as well as the dino buckler and KibaRanger for the helmet design and gold colored belt. Comparing between the artwork, the figure is entirely different… The artwork of the armor is shown to be more skimpy, you can clearly see side part of his chest compared to the actual figure and his proportion is looking slimmer as well. Likely, Hasbro made this just fit with other figure’s proportions which the male ranger got chunky proportions. His overall body sculpt doesn’t seem like a very detailed figure as the design is rather simple, even the armor looks simple and the red trim on his overall body is just simply painted but, it’s still cool to look at it. The overall figures were made from hard plastic and soft plastic on certain parts, his bodies are screwless but, some still got visible pegs. Lord Drakkon EVO III Helmet Sculpt (Before & After) Lord Drakkon EVO III Helmet Sculpt Lord Drakkon EVO III helmet featured in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale Issue 1 My Lord Drakkon EVO III helmet suffered defective line sculpt which you can see them between his mouth plate to visor, I was utterly disappointed with hasbro as I paid a lot of money on this. First, I complained to Amazon UK but, they offered full refund and, they suggested me to complain to the hasbro consumer care for this but, complaining to hasbro was a total waste of time since they gave me false hope. Yes, I have no other choice other than fixing this, and I asked Cluster Model Kit to fix this issue with added some detailings. Turns out alot better, Lord Drakkon EVO III is now looking much smoother and more detailed, I also asked him to add missing black line on his forhead. Lord Drakkon EVO III’s helmet was designed from KibaRanger helmet added with spikes on the gold part of the face, the black spike on the center there’s sculpted diamond part, which the helmet got a little mixture of DragonRanger’s helmet. To be frank, I prefer DragonRanger’s helmet design more than KibaRanger since, the design is much more fitting to the other MMPR helmet since they’re adapted from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger but, I guess they couldn’t get the right part to mix DragonRanger helmet with KibaRanger’s element. In the comic artwork, his overall helmet was supposed to be black grayish and got black colored visor trim but, in this figure his helmet is entirely glossy black so, his sculpted visor trim is barely visible, it’s like it was meant to be painted or the overall helmet should be painted black grayish while his visor trim remains black… Comparing between the comic issue, the helmet does indeed a little different, the comic version between each spikes got their own red eyes which if we counted it 2 sides, his helmet should have 4 eyes while the figure only got 2 eyes since the upper spikes are closing the gap of the eye and the comic version’s fangs on the mouth visor are gold instead of silver. Yes, the design of his helmet is totally inconsistent but, I based mostly from one of the poster art where he sit on the throne (not the comic issue cover). Another thing I don’t like from this figure is his neck is still too short, if I fully attached his helmet his neck would be fully covered by his helmet, pretty sure many complained this as well but, Hasbro doesn’t seem to buy it until now. Out from the box, his helmet was actually the alternate head part while his human head is his default hs. Tommy Oliver Head Sculpt Unmasked Lord Drakkon (Jason David Frank) in Power Rangers: Shattered Grid trailer Unmasked Lord Drakkon EVO III (Tommy Oliver) in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale Issue 1 01 Unmasked Lord Drakkon EVO III (Tommy Oliver) in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale Issue 1 01 Lord Drakkon EVO III’s actual default HS was this old hag looking Tommy Oliver head, the head is strongly based from Jason David Frank’s (JDF) appearance in Power Rangers: Shattered Grid trailer although, we never actually see JDF donning EVO III suit but, in the comic itself… This Tommy got different hairstyle, in his first seen reality he is shown like regular Tommy in the comic which he got clean cheeks but, as the story goes, veins on his cheeks is showing as well as the barely visible gray hair… Not sure if it’s really gray hair or just lighting from the comic. Unlike the JDF hair, this Tommy doesn’t sport sideburns bangs and he got 2 strands of front bangs, which this is very different compared to the JDF versions of Lord Drakkon. It’s clear that, hasbro did not based the head from the comic. I kinda mixed feeling on this, I know this JDF HS is inaccurate to the comic but, on the other side… Lord Drakkon identity himself is none other than Tommy Oliver, and we already known Tommy Oliver is JDF long enough… But to be honest, I kinda bored having him always being a ranger. Before & After Front, 2 side, & back view (EVO III) Removable cape His changes are mainly on the helmet and weapon while his body remains the same from the factory. Lord Drakkon EVO III is given the same body type like other rangers which appeared to be chunky on the chest and short necked. His Heart of the Master armor is based from DragonRanger’s Dragon Armor but, slightly altered with the diamond part on his chest was added with Heart of the Master’s red shard which is simply painted red with sculpted black painted symbol. Other similarities to Dragon Armor is, you can see the 3 sculpted lines between his shoulders, while his straps were made thicker and they also added this 3 lines on it. This armor is actually cast-off but, to do that you’ll have to remove his head/helmet and both of his arms. Sorry, there’s no way I’m going to risk more of ruining this exclusive figure. The armor was also attached with a black cape made from rubbery plastic and it’s removable but, without his cape… That 3 peg holes and that flat part looks kinda bothering however, you can see that between his cape part there’s sculpted fabric that connects to the 3 part of the sculpted lines so, I’m guessing that if he’s not wearing his cape in the comic, his sculpted lines would probably also visible on the back and probably connected to his 2 shoulders. but, in the comic itself Lord Drakkon EVO III always seen wearing cape. His cape was sculpted pretty nice, full of sculpted fabric and part of it was made to be flowing to the left side but, it’s a bit burdening for his leg posing. It’d be better if they make a fabric material cape with wires to make certain posing of his cape. His belt was made from rubber material as well, gold color representing Dairanger’s belt color but, the buckler was replaced with Dino Buckler showing Black Dragon coin. One thing I notice, my Lord Drakkon EVO III’s both legs are suffering bowlegged issues so, he cannot stand upward. This is actually easy to fix but, too lazy to do it at this moment. Lord Drakkon EVO III’s gauntlets and arm bands are mainly gold colored and they are not cast-off. Now. let’s see how the articulation’s works. Movable head (twist), shoulder (swivable), elbow, thighs, boots & ankles (twist) Movable torso & neck (bend up) Movable torso (twist) and movable arms Movable head and torso (bend to side) Movable head (looking down), arms (rotatable), elbow, torso (bend front), legs, knees & toes. Movable arms/crotch (open wide to side) and ankles High Kick Crossed arms Movable shoulders Cross legged sitting The overall articulations, they worked pretty much the same like the previous LC did but, surprisingly I could pose open wide his legs as dynamic as White Ranger one. As a result, I can make a dynamic high kick pose and that is beautiful. But, some of the articulations may not work well if he’s wearing his cape, which is why to demonstrate articulations smoothly I had to remove his cape. Byakkoshinken (Before & After) Dark ByakkoShinken (2 sides) Dark ByakkoShinken head sculpt Removable head Holstered Dark ByakkoShinken Yeah, time to do some action! EUAAAGGHH!! Midare Yamabiko!! You’re about to witness the power of the God! KIRYOKU!! Meh, I guess that’s the best you can do? Lord Drakkon EVO III’s actual weapon in the comic is a headless ByakkoShinken but, Hasbro made him with removable head to recreate that headless saber. The overall sword was sculpted the same way like LC White Ranger one but, got removable head. Once again, the sword only comes in extended blade version. Originally, the sword was only painted white, gold, silver for the blade and his head with black lines on the head but, in this review. To fit with EVO III’s suit design, the sword also got repainted to have black and gold colored based from the SDCC 2015 Exclusive Power Rangers Limited Black Edition Legacy Saba. Yes, he became nowhere accurate from the comic nor the show but, I’m not fond with his sword being white alone. This saber is now fully painted into glossy black with some gold and little silver and red detailings, of course Cluster Model Kit did this pretty clean & smooth. Damn, I knew this color would fit his design perfectly! The sword can be either holstered or grab it with both of Drakkon’s grasping hands, you can either make for action pose or other pose you desired. However… In the comic itself, despite having headless saber in his holster, Lord Drakkon EVO III is never seen using it in his new reality world nor even in his final battle. Option hand parts You small minded fool! You’re about to taste your ultimate fate! Dark Byakkoshinken: “Are you still thinking of that flat chested lass?” Lord KibaRanger: “Ow, just leave me alone, will ya!” Saber! You are now mine! From now on, you bow to Lord KibaRanger! Lord Drakkon EVO III was included with a pair of open splayed hands that can be used for certain pose or you can even use them to make him holding a helmet or effect piece. Out from the box, he was attached with a pair of grasping hands which can be used for holding Dark ByakkoShinken. In the comic, his hands got 4 gold painted knuckles while the figure actually only left plain black so, I asked my friend to add this small details. Now, he’s looking accurate to the comic. Effect pieces and mini diorama with attached fallen 4 Zyuranger helmets They could have been Gods! Feel the power of the God! Lord Drakkon EVO III is given with 2 large effect pieces and a mini diorama showing a rock with 4 fallen rangers helmet. Well, I can clearly tell these accessories are exclusive to this release so, we may not be able to get this accessories if Hasbro decided to release him as a single release in the upcoming wave. The 4 fallen rangers helmets are TyrannoRanger, DragonRanger, TigerRanger and PteraRanger. These helmets are removable and attachable to any LC figures, the helmets are also added with painted cracks instead of making crack sculpt. While we can recreate rangers with battle damaged helmet, the ugly thing is Hasbro kept the details off on TyrannoRanger’s helmet while DragonRanger’s helmet’s visor trim is only silver painted instead of white with silver, whereas TigerRanger and PteraRanger’s helmets were spot on enough. Another interesting part, without the helmets the diorama consisted 4 pegs with ball joint so, you can also attach any helmet/head sculpt on it. This accessories are exclusive to some comic issue cover but, the story itself, Lord Drakkon EVO III is never seen having helmet collection of the fallen rangers. However, that issue cover could be triggered to become a “what if…” story. And that’s all this figure got overall so, that means I have completed reviewing the whole figure’s contents? Yes but, I’m not happy with all of this so, I asked 2 friends to make some new stuffs for him! BONUS 01 New Fallen Rangers helmets! Without helmets 4 Zyuranger’s helmets Movable helmets Mini diorama with fallen 4 Zyuranger helmets attached with effect pieces Attachable effect piece Mini diorama with 5 fallen Zyuranger helmets (front, 2 sides & back view) These rangers fought hard but… They’re too weak! Team work?! I’ve got the power of the God! I’am a God, you will kneel before me! HAAAAAHHH!! This is the newly repainted diorama and added 2 new helmets! MammothRanger and TriceraRanger taken from LC Black Ranger and Blue Ranger! The mini diorama is now repainted to have realistic look while TigerRanger and PteraRanger’s battle damaged helmets are repainted without battle damaged effects to fit with the new 2 helmets, the actual reason is I’m not a fan of battle damaged helmet. Each helmets are now given with extended detailings such as linings and mouth visors to make them look show accurate despite not all of them are accurate but, I’m surprised that hasbro made the helmet size pretty inconsistent… MammothRanger’s helmet is the biggest while TriceraRanger is the smallest one but, it doesn’t really matter much I guess… The helmets can be move like moving figure’s head from the mini diorama, and If I’m not happy with only 4 helmets I can just borrow my SDCC Armed TyrannoRanger’s helmet to complete the 5 Zyuranger helmets on this diorama. One of the effect piece got 2 pegs that attachable to the diorama to recreate shattering effects, while the other piece you can either connect them to make chained shattering effect or make Lord Drakkon using his lightning blast. Now… Where is DragonRanger and TyrannoRanger’s battle damaged helmet?! Well, those 2 became part of this review’s bonus! BONUS 02 Lord Drakkon EVO III Dragon Mode (Before & After) Lord Drakkon EVO III Dragon Mode helmet sculpt Preview Pose Front, 2 side, & back view (Dragon Mode) You are finished, Jason!! With this power, I’m unstoppable! Instead of cleaning and adding details on DragonRanger helmet, I decided to go wild with my own idea on recreating my version of Lord Drakkon EVO III which he got 2 form of helmet, 1 would be the original one and the new one is a fully repainted DragonRanger helmet. I requested Cluster Model Kit to repaint it fit to his suit design and having the similar color design as his default helmet, the helmet is now black with gold stripes, visor trim became gold with dark gray for the dragon’s teeth, black visor became red representing Lord Drakkon EVO III’s helmet visor while mouthplate remains silver but, with extended mouthplate coloring. No special name given to this form but, I call it Dragon mode but, I have to admit DragonRanger helmet design is much more fitting for this body. Yes, it’s not accurate to the comic but, I still like the result of this repaint, it’s so clean and neat… Cluster Model Kit did an outstanding job on this. One more thing, without his cape, you can clearly see the bowlegged issue on my Lord Drakkon EVO III’s legs. BONUS 03 Lord Drakkon’s throne Preview Pose Front, 2 side, & back view (with throne) What hope do you possibly have now? This is my world! Lord Drakkon EVO III poster Another bonus for this review, my Lord Drakkon EVO III is now included with custom made diorama throne of him based from the comic! Although, his posing on the throne was once again exclusive in comic issue cover. The throne was made by request from Arslan Toko and it was made from polyfoam material. The throne may not looking as good as in the comic but, Arslan still did a good job on this. In one of the comic issue cover, his throne was supposed to be broken but, in this version was supposed for Lord Drakkon’s main form but, one of the Lord Drakkon EVO III’s poster has him sitting with the undamaged throne and frankly, I based every of his fixes and throne from this poster because it looks cooler to me. To pose him sitting you’ll have to remove his cape because the material is not flexible enough but, displaying like this is rather boring isn’t it? So, I have better idea: Box Art display recreation 01 Box Art display recreation 02 Box Art display recreation 03 Yes! It’s display figure diorama in box! Since his box is too big for the original contents, I decided to make my own display in diorama which features Lord Drakkon sitting on his throne chair accompanied by his helmet collections diorama with effect pieces. The box is very fitting although, the throne base is a little too big so, I can only put the chair inside the box but, I’m still happy with this. BONUS 04 Preview Pose Front, 2 side, & back view (Gold TyrannoRanger) …. King Stick… With pride I face thousands of waves. I strive to strengthen myself. Now, for the final helmet is TyrannoRanger! Another fanmade by me, making my own version of King Tyranno but, instead I call it Gold TyrannoRanger! Gold TyrannoRanger was actually a fusion form of TyrannoRanger with KingRanger but, in this figure only the helmet was changed from KingRanger to that battle damaged TyrannoRanger helmet. In my story he’s neither Geki/Riki/Jason/Trey of Triforia, his identity is someone famous with his martial arts skills, he can be wise but, brutal as well. Duh, enough with the fan story, the battle damaged TyrannoRanger helmet is now repainted into black and gold to match up with KingRanger’s body from Jason 2-pack. The helmet may only consisted 2 colors but, added lots of line details to make him looking more detailed. Yes, it is another clean and superb repaint work from Cluster Model Kit, the helmet color is surprisingly perfect for this body! COMPARISON Comparison between LC Armed TyrannoRanger Comparison between Custom ML Centurions Ace McCloud Comparing between LC Armored Red Ranger and custom ML Centurions Ace McCloud, Lord Drakkon EVO III is looking shorter than both but, I think he’s shorter than red is because of the bowlegged issues. Other than that, the overall body of both rangers is pretty much the same except different getup accessories. Box tray display 01 Box tray display 02 So far, very dissappointed with hasbro’s pathetic customer service but, atleast the fix was worthed! If you’re a box collector this figure is very suitable for you but, if you want to unbox them they can be tiring because, they tied him with lots of strings. Hasbro released this as exclusive because they know the limited appearance of this form as well and not many people read the comic. This form appeared very brief in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 30 but, the majority is in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale Issue 1. The form also appeared briefly in Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers issue 23. Currently his price is overpriced in Ebay or Amazon US but, it seems like he’s currently still available for preorder in Hasbro Pulse around $49.99 so, if you lived in US or Canada you may still be able to get him. I was able to snag this in Amazon UK but, unlike Jason 2-pack this figure cost me alot. Yes, the contents itself is not worth for the price. Seemingly, Amazon UK’s stock is now gone for good but, I’m not sure when it’ll pops up again. It was sold very quick, I had to be fast enough to order this. However, I’m guessing Hasbro would someday release him again as a single figure in the upcoming wave. But, in the new release they usually altered his accessories which might give him lesser but, likely with some new addition such as possible another new Tommy Oliver HS, new Byakkoshinken weapon which is headless like in the comic and smaller effect piece. However, remember that Lord Drakkon still got his Evolution I and II form, I’m guessing both form will become another con exclusive release but… I could be wrong…. Lord Drakkon EVO III: Pros:

This Jet Li HS is a custom made from 3D printing, the head itself was a recast from HeadPlay Jet Li HS. It seems like his head was based from his appearance in Fist of Legend, Bodyguard From Beijing, High Risk and The Enforcer movies, you can tell from his hairstyle. This HS was made from gray colored PVC material but, Andika painted the whole head. Originally, this HS was supposed to be made for SHF but, it’s a little too big so, it fit to LC/ML figures. This is why I came up with this idea of using Jet Li HS for Gold TyrannoRanger’s identity, the head is actually quite spot on to Jet Li’s face mainly on his eyes but, his face shape is a little bit too oval imo.
