This is an exceptional bourbon finished in American brandy casks and thought to be the very first made. On the nose, honeyed sultanas, Amaretto and burnt sugar, while the palate sees notes of dried fruits with cinnamon and a hint of oily walnut. This is Woodford Reserve turned up to 11 with lots more toffee, oak, honeycomb and syrupy notes on the nose. The palate leads with more lovely spice and caramel, followed by nuts and an almost icing sugar note. The finish is big and lasting with lots more of that warming, toasty spice.
