If there was one pair I was eagerly waiting to pick up this year, it was the Air Jordan 1 Neutral Grey High.

Apart from the fact that it is a retro, I would stand a fair chance of copping the “true to 85” silhouette, which has been missing from my rotation. Shout out to my friend, who helped me get my hands on these for retail. I truly appreciate people I have met over the years, who aren’t in the game for money or flex. And such people are actually rare.

Now before we jump into the images, here’s a quick unboxing video from my YouTube Channel

With that out of the way, here’s a few things you need to know about the Air Jordan 1 High Neutral Grey ’85.
– Same shape and packaging as the original release in 1985
– White premium leather upper
– Neutral Grey hits on the swoosh and collar done in suede
– Paper hangtag as in the 1985 paper
– Inverted colors on the regular Jumpman box
– Retroed for the first time since 1985
– However, the 1985 release was called Natural Grey

Air Jordan 1 Neutral Grey High 85 vs Nike Dunk High Pure Platinum

I picked up the Dunk High Pure Platinum back in December 2020, half expecting not to be able to cop a pair of the Air Jordan 1 High Neutral Greys. But since I managed to get a pair finally, I downsized the Dunk high from my collection.

And what better day to wear the Neutral Grey for the first time, than on my birthday this year!

I teamed it with a rather standard (to me) outfit that I would go as far as calling a “uniform”. A pair of green Stone Island cargos, with the Paccbet X Carhartt WIP tee, and a Carhartt WIP belt. Completing the look, the one accessory that is indispensable these days – a face mask from Orbit Gear.

Had to wear this beautiful pair on my birthday!

I know the Neutral Grey isn’t a head turner. But despite all of the “loud” and varied color blocking on Air Jordan 1 pairs in the past few years (collaboration or not), I feel this is one that is timeless. I for one, can’t wait to have enough opportunities to go out and wear them. I decided to throw on the Neutral Grey laces, instead of the white ones they came factory laced in. I think it gives it just the right bit of pop.

What are your thoughts on the lace swap? And your thoughts on the pair? Let me know in the comments.
