Instructions

  1. Whisk together the milk and sugar, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

  2. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla.

  3. For best results, chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 1 hour before freezing.

  4. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's directions.

  5. Stir the cookie chunks into the soft ice cream, and serve immediately.

  6. For firmer ice cream, place soft ice cream in a covered container. Freeze for 2 to 3 hours, until the ice cream is as hard as you like. Note: Freezing longer than this will make the ice cream rock hard; plan on softening at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes or so before serving.

Tips from our Bakers

  • To keep ice cream soft and "scoopable" in the freezer, stir in 3 tablespoons alcohol — vodka, brandy, rum, or the liqueur of your choice — after you've remove the ice cream from the ice cream maker, but before you put it into the freezer to harden.

I've been seeing these homemade no churn ice cream recipes floating around the internet for quite some time now.  They always caught my eye because, hello, only 2-3 ingredients and no ice cream maker seems almost too good to be true.

I have put off making this homemade ice cream for so long because the convenience of the ice cream freezer at the grocery store trumped my desire to make it at home.

I am here to tell you, if you have ever wanted to try a no churn ice cream recipe at home DON'T WAIT like I did.  Not only was this recipe so freaking easy to make, it was beyond delicious!  Like, I actually proclaimed that I was never buying store bought ice cream again after my first bite.

How could this possibly be?  How could a simple mixture of cream and condensed milk make a luscious, creamy, and utterly heavenly frozen treat?  It's like magic, my friends.  A magic that you must try for yourself to truly appreciate.

Combining airy fresh whipped cream with the sweetened condensed milk is the base for this recipe.  I loaded it up with crushed Oreos because they are my kids' favorite.

I left the crushed pieces a bit chunky and I recommend you do the same.  Who doesn't love to find a big hunk of cookie in their ice cream?  When you find a big chunk in your bowl it's like unearthing a treasure, am I right?  So keep 'em chunky.
