It turned out to be the Camshaft Position Sensor. You can test it easily. The sensor is on the right side of the top of the engine, right above the end of the camshaft. 10mm bolt. When it is hot and won't start pull the Sensor out clean it and put it back in. If your car starts then it is the sensor. I got the import replacement at O'Reilley's for $59.99. One day the car started to stutter and then it died and has not been able to start since. Was told it was fuel pump but not sure. Any ideas? Note: If a malfunction occurs in the crankshaft position sensor circuit, the engine stops working, the ECU enters the malfunction code into the memory and turns on the indicator in the instrument cluster. In this case, check if the sensor is working properly. The engine crankshaft position sensor is installed opposite the master disc located on the crankshaft. Removing and installing the Mitsubishi Outlander crankshaft position sensor 1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the storage battery. 2. Remove the engine crankcase protection. 3. Press the latch and disconnect the crankshaft position sensor harness connector. 4. Use a 10 mm head to unscrew the sensor mounting bolt. 5. Remove the sensor. 6. Measure the resistance between the sensor leads with a tester. The resistance between any pair of leads must not be zero (winding short) or infinity (winding open). If the resistance does not meet the specified requirements, replace the Mitsubishi Outlander CKP sensor with a new one. Note: A rubber sealing ring is installed between the crankshaft position sensor and the cylinder head. Do not lose the ring when removing the sensor, replace if cracks and signs of aging appear on it. 7. Install the engine crankshaft position sensor in the reverse order of removal.
