Rick Grimes Show The Walking Dead is marching through its last few episodes to end the series after 11 seasons. But I’ve seen some discussion about how the show may or may not mirror the end of the comics, which concluded with the Commonwealth arc. It’s…not really even a discussion, and I’m not sure people realize just how much has changed where the show will be just miles and miles away from the end of the comics, and it really should not resemble the finale of Kirkman’s story at all. Let’s go through this:
Dwight The Comics
The Walking Dead
In short, while the show and comics have had similarities and differences in the past, all these changes have created a butterfly effect that here in the finale, the show really cannot look remotely like the end of the comics. Almost every single main character in the comic Commonwealth arc is gone. And some of the characters that seemingly replaced them are destined for their own spin-offs after this, so there cannot be some sort of fixed ending to their story. I’m expecting very, very little about the finale to resemble the comics, and even the show itself seems a bit confused, as they reported recently they had to change their ending scene that they originally had planned. I’m guessing it’s something Rick spin-off related, as there’s a zero percent change the show will end without showing him, even if he’s not showing up in person to meet up with his old crew (which would not make much sense for his spin-off). From the looks of the trailer, things will be action-packed right at the get as our survivors, who have been scattered for most of season 11, will come together against the recent big bad, the Commonwealth. One question that keeps popping up is, will Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) be returning to the series before the end? Andrew Lincoln Photo Credit: Jackson Lee Davis/AMC Rick Grimes was the leader of the main group of survivors from the beginning of the series until his apartment demise in season 9. He heroically blew up a bridge to save his family as they watched in horror. But, unbeknownst to them, he was blown clear and found on the river’s edge by Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh). She proceeded to rescue him, aided by the Civic Republic and taken away in a helicopter. His family has mourned his loss greatly, and things have suffered since his departure. But, his wife Michonne (Danai Gurira) discovered that he didn’t die and went in search of him. She did share this information with his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming), who hasn’t shared this information with anyone. The only other person within the communities that is aware of this is Virgil (Kevin Carroll), and he hasn’t been seen since the storms at Alexandria. Will Rick Grime return to The Walking Dead?Andrew Lincoln Photo Credit: Gene Page/AMC If I am perfectly honest, I don’t believe we will see Rick in the flagship series before the end. I say this because showrunners and creators have known for much longer than the San Diego Comic-Con announcement that things had changed, and instead of a trilogy of movies, a Rick and Michonne series would be created instead. I don’t think they would feel the need for a Rick appearance in the series. Do I think he should make an appearance? Absolutely. This series began with and should end with Rick Grimes. And I would be delighted if I am wrong. Follow Undead Walking on Twitter and sign up for the once-daily Undead Walking newsletter to avoid missing out on all things in The Walking Dead universe. In which episode Rick comes back? What We Become (The Walking Dead). Will Rick be on season 11?Rick Grimes has left the show, when he was the central character in the last arc, and actually was killed in the final issues by Milton's son.
Is Season 11 The Walking Dead's last season? The eleventh and final season of The Walking Dead, an American post-apocalyptic horror television series on AMC, premiered on August 22, 2021, and will consist of 24 episodes.
Does Rick return to the walking dead?I'm so excited to be returning to the screen as Rick, reuniting with Danai as Michonne, and bringing the fans an epic love story to add to the Walking Dead Universe.”
