Can I mix hair dye with conditioner instead of developer?You can't use a conditioner to replace a developer. The developer has a specific function: to open up the hair cuticle and pull out pigment molecules. This process is what makes permanent (and demi-permanent) hair dye so different from semi-permanent dyes, albeit also more damaging.
