Tracker grizzly 2072 with 150 top speed

I've been looking for a good "all around" boat. Something that can handle lake, river, bayou and inshore fishing. I know there is no such thing as a perfect boat, but what do you all think of this new Tracker? Does anyone know of a better option?

2015 Tracker Grizzly 2072 MVX CC

Max Hp.-115 Hp, seems a little underpowered for a 20'+ boat.

I had an 1872 and enjoyed it, but a couple of choppy days in weeks bay made for some cracked welds and loose rivets. If I were going back to an aluminum boat I would get a better made hull made locally.

For the value though, Grizzly is hard to beat

Look at the layout. Where are you gonna store the ice chest or your tackle box? Where does the trolling motor battery go? How do you stow the net?Usually boats like these have only so much storage room because of the flotation foam.

Also being that wide with a max of 115 hp it won't get much more than low to mid 30's in the mph range. Fine for most short trips but something to keep in mind.

I would look at some custom builders. For not a lot more you can get an aluminum boat built that's much sturdier and customized the way you like it.

I went through this boat selection process for the last few months myself. As soon as oil prices get back up in going the custom route.

I should have noted mine was a tiller with wide open space for all my junk

Also make sure you get an aluminum or galvanized trailer if you will be using it in saltwater

what do you guys think about lowe boats? Seem pretty decent to me

I personally like the Excel or Xpress hulls much better but if you want more flat bottom style then look at Alumaweld

I have a 2072 made by alumacraft which is very similar to a tracker. I beat the he'll out of it usually 2-3 times a week and a 115 is plenty of power. I have a 24 foot bay boat also but I enjoy my aluminum boat more.

Friend has a 20' Seaark with a Zuke 115. Surprisingly enough it handles it pretty well. No speed demon but we have loaded it down with camping stuff and pirogues and went down river many times at Venice.

With that 115 you should get mid 40s to low 50s my 1860 with a 90 will run 45

I've driven that exact boat with a 90 Optimax. It would NOT turn, only skid to one side or the other when you turn the wheel. Had to slow way down for the hull to actually react to the turn.. IMO dangerous for most people to drive. Wouldn't own that boat.

I own a Tracker 1860 CC and I say stay away from Tracker. Horrible customer service. Older models welds were very prone to cracking and leaking. With that being said there are numerous changes to the 2015 hull that may correct a lot of those problems. As mentioned the previous hulls were very hard to turn on plane and would slide sideways. For 2015 Tracker went from a 3 1/2 deg deadrise to a 7 deg deadrise which give you better cornering and tracking. Tracker has added a lot stiffer floor plate as well as floatation panels to the sides. The floatation panels will also add a lot of rigidity to the hull. The bow area has also been reinforced. Looking at the changes made this makes me think that Tracker got tired of replacing these boats and put their engineers to work. From reputation I would go with SeaArk or Ranger, they now make a CC aluminum boat that's very similar.

I have that exact model Tracker, really enjoy it, been shrimping with it, duck hunting, fishing both salt and fresh water. It does lack storage, but the front deck has plenty room for lift jackets and other "JUNK". Also got mine with 80lb Rip Tide and GPS/Fish Finder Combo. The 115 pushes it 40mph Topped out, with hardly any load. Loaded it runs about 30-32, but I never run my motors wide open. Hope this helps.

I just got the 2008 Xpress 18 HD and love it. Not the best storage but handles great and will run 44 with a 115 Hama. Built solid!
