Ozark trail 12 person cabin tent with screen porch set up

5.0 out of 5 stars so I had a pretty good idea what I was getting

I had what I thought was the exact same tent about 6 years ago, so I had a pretty good idea what I was getting. However I was shocked to find that the poles now come attached to the tent. This makes setting up the tent and taking it down much easier and I was even able to get it back in the bag.A few recomendations. Set you tent up before you use it the first time. It will probably take two people about 30 mins to set it up the first time as there is a bit of a learning curve. Once it's set up, spray it down with a silicone spray to ensure rain protection. Purchase a 20'x20' tarp that is silver on one side and black on the other. Set this up over the tent between some trees and use this instead of the rain fly. This will allow your tent to breathe much better. Also when stakeing, start with the inside corner first and work your way across the doors first. Getting the tent stretched out is key.

I got this tent for a three night camping trip in the white mountains. Set up and break down was very easy. I don’t think the rod can take a lot of bending so take your time while setting it up and taking it down. Once up it was very stable. Two of the nights had huge rain storms. No wind but a ton of rain. The walls oozed a little and some water pooled in on room but that room wasn’t on a tarp (didn’t bring one big enough), so that may have been an issue. I hadn’t had time to test it before the trip and add water proofing so that may fix the oozing. Very experienced campers have told me you should always water proof your tent before using it, even if it’s new. I figure I’ll need a lot to cover a tent of this size though. Water did pool at the edges of the rain fly where it becomes an awning over the open part of the L-Shape and pulled out. Stake that I hadn’t set well but it wasn’t a big deal. There is only one ceiling hook for a lamp in the center room which I wish the other two rooms had but the rooms are spacious enough for two cots and gear. All in all, I think it is an excellent tent for the money.

I like the tent. Easy to install and put back. The only thing I didn’t like is that you can only hook a light on top in the middle room. The other 2 rooms don’t have anything on top where you have hook a light.

This tent is easy to setup. The 1st time we setup - it took about 2 minutes without instructions.
We took this tent camping for 4 nights. Rained and thunderstorm the last night we were there. We stayed dry.
Everything worked as it should

Huge wonderful tent, just the size I needed for a big family. I was excited to find big storage pockets inside. See picture of pockets. I was also happy to see that I don't have to spray water proofing on the tent, in fact the instructions say to not, that the waterproofing was already done in manufacturing.

Unboxing I was disappointed by the amount of cardboard used to package it, even after I thought all the cardboard was off, there was a piece of cardboard taped around each joint.

I was surprised that the windows do not have ties to roll the open flap into, so they hang loose down when open, see picture. I was also surprised that the windows do not unzip all the way to the bottom of the mesh, see picture from the outside with a fully unzipped window. Not a big deal about the windows but surprising.

I was able to get it to fit in the back of a very small car (Prius picture for reference) but one seat had to be folded down, big tent is too long for the small car back otherwise.

First time take down by myself took only 15min to get everything back in the bag, see time lapse video. I did have to unzip the secondary expansion zipper on the bag, that is very helpful.

After quite a few uses this summer, a small black piece popped off when folding it away. I took a picture of it and where it snaps right into the top as a joint cover. Not a big deal.

So this tent is very spacious. We do like it. We have been in high winds (roughly 40+ mph), rain, snow, and sunshine. In the summer temps this tent is great. Lots Of ventilation. That being said, it is NOT good for cold weather and does NOT do well in wind. The rain protector becomes a gaping kite catching tons of cold air and allowing it into the tent. Also... the flapping of that thing the first night kept my husband and I up ALL night long. To solve that we strapped the whole thing down the next day. It helped, but it was still obnoxious. As you can see in the picture we had frost. I think no water would have come in but my husband was rubbing the tent wall, and a little while later we had a small puddle inside that got our air lateness wet. Also, everyone’s sleeping bag was damp outside because of dew. Likely due to all the ceiling area allowing so much cold air in. Also, the windows DO NOT completely zip up. Across the top they are open. I would have liked them to fully zip shut to keep it a little warmer. There is nowhere to hang a little light in 2 of the rooms. Only one. Kind of dumb.
This tent does set up quick. It’s very nice to have the built in poles.
