Gaga has said she could not have pulled off her role in the movie without having made her latest album, "Joanne". A simple listen to the soundtrack of "A star is born" makes one realise that both albums share a lot between them. In fact, this feels like a continuation of her americana-flavoured record from 2 years ago. From bluesy rock to country to pop, the 19 original songs on this 34-track set are every bit as versatile as LG herself. Leading single "Shallow" is a perfect example of this versatility, starting off as a folky number, then becoming a pop duet, and finishing as a glam-rock anthem. "Always remember us this way" and "I'll never love again" are another 2 astonishing songs, guaranteed award-winning ballads. The set also features vocals by Gaga's co-star and director of the film, Bradley Cooper. But the driving vehicle behind this is Gaga. Her raw, stripped down profile of the elusive megastar that she is that she presented on "Joanne", has much in common with the character she portrays in the movie. After 10 years in the business, with many image changes and artistic choices which often blur her real persona and her undisputed talent, it is nice to see her focusing on music again. I was not fond of her country detour but this new film and soundtrack feel organic and honest, her new songs are marvellous, and this could be a classic.Note: CD version of the soundtrack comes with a 12-page booklet, or with a posterfold booklet. LP edition comes as a 2LP gatefold with inner sleeves, and includes a set of 10 cards. Finally, a special deluxe edition of the soundtrack was released in the UK on December 14. It features the "ASIB" CD with posterfold booklet, 3 posters (Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, and the movie main poster), and a 16-page movie photo book, all housed in a clamshell box with gold foil lettering.

I love the music from this movie. However, this one has a bit too much conversation from the scenes where the songs are introduced and a bit choppy for that reason. Otherwise, the music is great and it's really nice to hear all the lyrics that were not heard in the movie.

The soundtrack to A Star Is Born is simply amazing. Bradley Cooper reveals yet another of his talents with his spectacular singing voice. Every song is enjoyable, with varied genres and many tracks that are among the best of Lady Gaga's career so far. The stand outs for me are Maybe It's Time, Always Remember Us This Way, Look What I Found, Is That Alright?, Before I Cry and the soaring, epic final track I'll Never Love Again. The short dialogue tracks are also a fantastic way to take the listener on a odyssey through the film, to heighten the emotions of each glorious song.

Mi è davvero molto difficile riuscire a comunicare a parole tutto quello che questa soundtrack è riuscita a trasmettermi. State pur certi però che, così come è capitato al sottoscritto, anche voi verrete travolti da una valanga di emozioni come mai o quasi mai prima d'ora. L'album si compone di 19 canzoni più 15 dialoghi tratti dal film 'A star is born'. In particolare, le 19 canzoni sopracitate spaziano dal pop al rock, dal country al jazz (con una meravigliosa cover del classico 'La vie en rose'), fino a giungere a una serie di ballad al piano che vi lasceranno senza fiato e con la pelle d'oca dal primo all'ultimo istante. 'Always remember us this way', 'Is that alright', 'I'll never love again' e 'Before I cry' sono dei veri e propri capolavori, delle canzoni destinate a diventare dei classici del panorama musicale contemporaneo. Un lavoro assolutamente incredibile da parte del duo Lady Gaga - Bradley Cooper, che ai prossimi Oscar porteranno sicuramente a casa una statuetta per la migliore canzone originale. Da acquistare senza pensarci due volte.

Just had my first listen to this and it's amazing, was pleasantly surprised by Bradley Coopers voice, and Lady Ga-ga is outstanding.
Such emotion comes through each song slowly building to the finale. Can't wait to see this movie now!

This album is a Masterpiece. Every track is an instant favourite and I'm sure will be popular karaoke/talent show audition choices for decades to come. There is a real mix here, from Remember us this way, Shallow and I'll Never love again, which bring out the emotion and Gaga's epic voice over a piano. Then there are songs like Hair body face, Heal Me and Look What I Found, which could easily be mistaken for Gaga's new music from her upcoming album. I also have to say I really am not a fan of Bradley Cooper, so when I discovered he was attached to this I was disappointed. BUT, Wow he can sing so well. This movie may well change my mind. A MUST BUY!!!!

I love the film (see review elsewhere), but the quality of the music is excellent - and naturally, Lady Gaga's material and performances on here are a great reason to buy. She is such a versatile and first-class singer that she can pretty much smash everything she records.
'Shallow' is the most familiar song, but like any soundtrack album is spoiled by the addition of the crowd noise in keeping with the stage performance in the film. I can see why they do this, but it spoils the audio-only experience. Why they add dialogue from the film is equally puzzling; if I really wanted to listen to those moments from the film I would surely watch it again.
There some outstanding songs here: 'Always Remember Us This Way' is right out of the top drawer is a beautifully written, performed and produced song. It shows Lady Gaga is at the top of her game right now as a writer and performer, but if you are in any doubt, the massive finale 'I'll Never Love Again' is truly breathtaking. It is better than Whitney at her finest.
Bradley Cooper's excellent contributions are inevitably overshadowed by a world musical superstar at her peak, but I think he's done a great job and his tracks sit nicely in an album which is a very enjoyable listen overall.
So why only four stars? It would have been a better album without the dialogue from the film and the tracks kept as clean recordings with no crowd effects.
Finally - I am disappointed that the Amazon page suggested I was getting a deluxe edition when I received the standard edition. On revisiting the page, the full details suggested it was Deluxe, whereas at the top, it suggested it wasn't. So ... make sure you are ordering what you think you are.
