Tips:

  • Many unpaid iPhone apps have Android versions. You automatically get the Android versions from Google Play (where available) when you set up your Pixel.
  • Subscription services such as Spotify or Apple music will transfer. You just need to log in to the service.

Important: Contacts, calendars, and Google Keep notes that you copy to your Pixel phone sync and upload to your Google Account online. Your Google Account info syncs when you sign in to your account on your Pixel phone.

    Tip: When you turn on Optimize Storage on your iPhone, the original photos are in iCloud and not on your iPhone. Lower resolution versions of your photos won't copy, even if they're stored on your iPhone.

  • Phone settings, like Wi-Fi passwords
  • Music with iTunes Digital Rights Management protection
  • Accounts other than Google Accounts and their data
  • Contacts and calendars synced to services other than Google or iCloud
  • Bookmarks from Safari
  • Some third-party chat app data

Step 1: Get ready to set up your new Pixel

 Charge both of your phones. 

 Step 2: Find what you need

Find what you need. Learn what comes with your phone.

  • The Quick Switch Adapter
  • A cable that works with your iPhone, like the one you use to charge
  • Your SIM card and SIM card insertion tool, unless you have an eSIM

Step 3: On your iPhone

  • Turn off iMessage and Facetime. Learn how to turn off iMessage.
  • If an organization, like a business or school, manages your iPhone, it can limit your transfer. Learn how to fix issues with data transfer to your new Pixel.

Step 4: On your Pixel

 Turn on your Pixel, and tap Get Started. You can change your phone’s language or vision settings. 

Step 5: Insert your SIM card

 Insert your SIM card into your phone. Learn how to get a SIM card and insert it.

Step 6: Connect the phones & copy your data

Copy data from your old phone with a cable (recommended)

  1. On your Pixel phone:
    • Tap Start.
    • Connect to a Wi-Fi network or mobile carrier.
  2. When asked to “Copy Apps & Data,” tap Next

  3. When asked to “Use your old device”, tap Next.
  4. Turn on and unlock your iPhone.
  5. Plug one end of your iPhone charging cable into your iPhone.
  6. Plug the cable's other end into your Pixel phone or into the Quick Switch Adapter and plug the adapter into your Pixel phone.

    Tip: Don't have a cable? You can transfer some of your data wirelessly.

  7. On your iPhone, tap Trust.
  8. On your Pixel phone, a list of your data appears.
    • To copy all your data, tap Copy.
    • To copy only some data:
      • Turn off what you don't want.
      • Tap Copy.
  9. When your transfer is finished, you can use your phone.

    Tip: Some apps need time to download and install and may take time to show up.

Copy data wirelessly

Don’t have a cable? You can still copy data wirelessly to your new Pixel phone.

Important: Some data can’t be copied wirelessly, so it’s recommended you use a cable if available.

  1. While going through Setup, tap No cable?.
  2. In the “Copy another way” screen, tap Ok.
  3. On the next screen, tap Using an iPhone device.
  4. Accept the permission to connect to your other phone and sign into your Google account.
  5. Using your iPhone’s camera, scan the QR code to download the Switch to Android app.
    Tip: If you don’t see a QR code or some of the steps above, your phone might not support Switch to Android. Instead, you can follow alternative instructions found at android.com/switch.
  6. Open the Switch to Android app on your iPhone. 
  7. Accept the terms and conditions, then wait for the devices to connect together.
    1. You may see a few prompts on your iPhone to connect to the Android device. This is normal.
    2. Accept the requests in order to establish the connection.
  8. When the phones are connected, choose the data types to copy on your iPhone.
  9. Press Continue.
  10. Data begins to transfer.
    Important: During the data transfer process, keep your iPhone screen on and the Switch to Android app open. If you close the app, the copy process may stop and fail.
  11. When the transfer is complete, follow the remaining on-screen instructions on your Pixel and iPhone devices.
