I tried the eraser (I actually have a suede eraser -- I should have thought of that right away!) and it removed some of the stickiness, but there's still that ugly rectangle on each shoe -- I know it's on the bottom, but it still bums me out

just wear them, after an hour out on a street the rectangle will be blended in with the rest of the scuffing on the sole

I just let it wear off after awhile. I don't trust any technique because they might ruin the leather sole. Then you are left with a horrid mess.

I've had that happen twice, and now I ask the SA to please remove them for me before I leave. I'm thinking if I keep asking them to do it, and everyone else does that, then they learn to not do that ever again and change their way of labeling the shoes.

I pretty much only buy shoes on sale so I have to deal with this all the time. I use goo-gone and it works just fine.

Works like a charm! use a small amount on a paper towel, rub, remove excess...To be on the safe side, rub with a damp paper towel after to remove excess oil and avoid slipping! Hope it works!

I would maybe just ask the SA what they use to remove the sticker!

Have you tried goo gone? It's used to remove stickers and residue. It's pretty strong and I'm not sure if it would damage the leather - maybe someone else has used it before that can chime in

I don't recommend using oil based products to remove the sticker tag. The light sueded sole picks up the oil and you're left with a dark stain, which, presumably, would bother you even more.

The sticker residue doesn't bother me a bit. A few minutes outdoors with the shoes and it's gone.

well, I wore the shoes to work the last two days and while the stickiness is all gone, I'm still left with two ugly dark rectangles, which actually look worse now than they did before -- they didn't lighten up at all and/or blend with the rest of the sole. I mean, they're on the bottoms of the shoes and no one can see them (but I know they're there!), but it'll teach me that next time I buy a pair of shoes from Nordstroms, that I make sure that THEY remove the stickers before I leave the store!

i have dealt with that on a lot of sale shoes -- i figure that it's the price i pay for the discount. once they go on sale, the stores slap those labels on. i wish they were different, but....
i find that after a few wears, you won't be able to tell at all. it's on the part of the sole that will get very dirty the more you walk in them.

you could also use sticky tape (i just use clear tape) and stick it on the sticker residue to remove it. =) i just tried it. works pretty well

How do you remove sticky residue from shoes?

Use Goo Gone: If you like to buy shoes on sale, Goo Gone will be your best friend. It works. I peeled the sale sticker off as well as I could, put a few drops of Goo Gone on a paper towel and started rubbing the residue. It dissolved within seconds.

                      What removes sticky residue?

Soak a paper towel in warm white vinegar or room temperature rubbing alcohol, then lay it over the sticker residue for about five minutes. This will soften the residue so you can scrape it away with a credit card. WD-40 is also effective for removing sticker residue.

                      Why does leather get sticky?

Given the right materials to absorb, leather grows healthy and strong. If it is exposed to bad things, it will grow weak and dry out, or it will become sticky. Tacky leather can usually be attributed to one of three things: spillage, UV damage, or over-conditioned leather.

How do you remove sticky residue from faux leather?

                      Masking Tape.
Remove as much adhesive as possible by applying fresh masking tape to the affected area, rubbing it lightly, and then pulling it off rapidly..
The new tape will not form a strong bond to the NYTEK® surface, but will stick to the adhesive residue on it and will pull some of it off..
