U-Haul car dolly rentals can tow most FWD vehicles and many RWD vehicles. When towing a RWD vehicle on a tow dolly, you must disconnect the driveshaft, please refer to your owner’s manual prior to loading and towing a vehicle. When towing with a personal tow vehicle, the tow dolly requires either a 1-7/8” or 2” hitch ball as well as an appropriately rated hitch. During the reservation process, U-Haul will provide an exact recommendation for your particular vehicle combination.

Each component is rated for the amount of weight it can haul. The lowest rating of the three components determines the overall rating of your total hitch system. For example, if you have a 3,500 lb. hitch and ball mount with a 2,000 lb. trailer ball, your hitch system is limited to the 2,000 lb. trailer ball towing capacity.

*The miles per gallon calculations are estimations for ideal driving circumstances. Many conditions can affect this number, including driving with a load, road grades, weather conditions and vehicle speed.

U-Haul towing equipment is ideal for all your moving needs and more. In addition to traditional moves, our towing equipment can help you with a variety of projects and help you tow your UTVs, ATVs and more to your next adventure.

Our towing equipment is not limited to just hauling cars, if you need to move something bigger than our regular utility trailers, our Auto Transport may be just the trailer you need to haul that odd load, like a hot tub, tractor or shed.
