I stayed here for one night while playing at an Oktoberfest off site. It was bascially pretty good. The room was modern and nice. There is a lot of noise fromt he street but it was Saturday night. The parking is in their garage and is free. You are just given a slip of paper to put on your dash. Check in and out were basically good. I did try to check out and got someone else's bill by accident. This was corrected though. The breakfast was not a good experience as I had to buy a dried oatmeal canister to put in my microwave. The coffee was good as it was Starbucks. All in all, if you are staying on campus, this is a good choice.

I stayed here recently for a convention I attended with a friend of mine. We both had a great time. The location of the hotel made it very easy to walk to and from the event at the convention center. We stayed two nights. When we checked into our room, we were very pleased by the room size and cleanliness. We did have to call down to the front desk to request a microwave. That took some time to arrive, but it did eventually come we were very grateful. The staff member who helped us was very professional. I wish that I could say the same about one of the staff member at the front desk. They seemed overwhelmed and unhappy from the time we arrived to the time we checked out. Im not sure what happened maybe just a bad day. I will say overall the weekend was very successful and the hotel met our needs and I will stay here again for future events at the convention center.

Sam checked us in and helped us plan restaurants for dinner in Columbia. He also went out of his way to help us plan the next leg of our trip in Savanna GA. He gave us restaurant ideas and activities. He treated us like his family. Very professional and curious. I would come back and stay here because of his friendliness to my husband and myself.

Let me first just say that this hotel doesn’t deserve even one star. After traveling from Pennsylvania I decided to stop at the Super 8 in Columbia, SC, Fairfield Road and sleep for the night. I got up early the next morning still exhausted from driving from Pennsylvania, on my way home for another 8 hour hour drive home & I accidentally left my folding travel bag containing expensive facial cream, expensive hair products, medication and other things. I called a day later asking if they had my bag and most normal and professional businesses will keep your bags for you at least a week to see if you claim it…not them. The front desk said they did not see anything in the most & found box and that they would go into the room and check. No one ever called me back. Then I called the Wyndham since it’s owned by the Wyndham and they said they couldn’t do anything about it and that I had to deal with the private owner specifically. I got a letter from the private owner saying that due to Covid, they throw everything away… This is NONSENSE…Just another excuse to steal and then blame it on Covid. So, the front office is saying but they have a lost and found box but the property manager is emailing me and saying they throw things away due to Covid.… Something’s fishy here! They refused to contact me and give me a refund for my room, which is a lot less than what my items were worth, until the Wyndham forced them to & basically said I couldn’t prove it & to go ahead & leave a bad review, as I said I was going to…classy…and then proceeded to blame me that I left my items behind!!! Also says he doesn’t know what a travel bag is!!?! What??? Needless to say, they refuse to give me a refund and try to offer me a 50% off stay the next time I’m in South Carolina… Don’t hold your breath! They are beyond greedy & LIARS. You don’t take peoples items as a whole with expensive items in it and throw it away. Would you take a whole suitcase with clothes in it and throw it away? I would never stay at this GROTESQUE hotel again. Needless to say, they refuse to give me a refund and try to offer me a 50% off stay the next time I’m in SC…NO THANKS!!

Our recent stay at this hotel was not only a great experience, but also because their staff helped us avoid a major inconvenience and a major expense. Check-in was efficient and the staff was very accommodating. The room was spotless and met all our needs. The comfortable bed gave us a good night’s sleep. When we arrived home the next evening, we realized that we were missing a small bag. I immediately called the hotel to see if they had found it. Andrina W. was on duty that night and explained that she would need to check with housekeeping in the morning and would call me back. I was very relieved when she phoned the next day with the news that they had the bag. She reassured me that all would be fine and patiently explained that once I emailed them a shipping label, they would box up the bag and ship it to me. She was professional and followed through on everything throughout this whole episode. The story has a very happy ending as I received the bag a couple of days later. We are looking forward to staying here again.

Where to start. I arrived here after driving all night after finding out my niece was born with 15 weeks early on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 3. My in-laws were staying here so we drove here to be close to family and the hospital as well. I came into the lobby around 5 am. I had to go and find the person working the front desk. Once I found him, I asked if they had any room. He said yes, I asked if I could get one. He said no we do not do check-ins after midnight. I tried to explain and quickly realized I was wasting my breath. He said it was against company policy. So I drove the another IHG Hotel (Holiday Inn Express) and explained what was going on and they let me stay there. If it truly a company policy, why could I drive to another IHG Hotel and get a room.

Filth is the best way to describe this Super 8. The room was supposed to be 2 queen beds and it was 2 full beds with a queen headboard. Dead cockroaches on bathroom floor, live baby one on dresser as we set our bag down almost on top of it. Went to wash our hands and the sink drain emptied right onto the floor, we had to put the waste basket under it. The bed sheets were all wrinkled as if they hadn't changed them from the previous guest, also cigarette holes in the bedspread and the room stunk like old cigarettes even though it was a non smoking room. We had to pay extra 25.00 for our small dog and she was cleaner than this room. Our dogs house is cleaner than this room. We arrived late and this was the only room available so we were stuck. We slept in our clothes on a blanket we brought with us on top of the bed that's how filthy it was. Never again will we stay in a Super 8, we will sleep in our car before we ever come back here or use a Super 8 again. FILTHY is the only way to describe this hotel. DO NOT STOP HERE. BEWARE FILTHY

Let’s start by saying I’m a Loyal Marriott Bonvoy member. I also stayed at several Aloft properties all over the USA. This hotel was a TOTAL disappointment. The establishment need was more of a local hangout than hotel. Pot holes in parking lot, rooms not ventilated, rooms were not clean by what I consider Marriott property standards, bathroom linens were dirty, music okayed loud in lobby, door handles and glass around the property hand been wiped/cleaned in a while. We checked out after day two. AVOID this hotel. Aloft…..DO BETTER.

It was time to stop along my tour. The lady at the counter was VERY helpful as I just bought a item from the oldest booze store in the US and I knew I could not bring it on the plane. She set up for a local shipper to come and get it and ship it home. Thanks. Room was great and clean. It had micro and fridge in it. Breakfast had SOS, eggs Bacon, sausage, breads, cereal and bev. But I was in Flordia and no OJ. LOL. Room faced the pool and was quiet all night.

Booked room last minute through a third party site for a great price. Upon check in I was advised they did not have to room available in which the reservation was made for, SOOO instead I was upgraded to a MUCH better and bigger room at no additional cost! The room was very clean and the beds were so comfortable I did not want to get out of it the next morning! The built in dispensers in the shower was convienant and saved me from having to dig out my shampoo conditioner and body for one night. The ladies were extremely friendly and helpful at the front desk and I felt comfortable in knowing that if I needed anything it wasnt a bother to them as it is for other places.Kids had fun swimming and we even got a late night workout in as the fitness room was open 24/7!!

I really never would have found this place without GPS but glad I am. From check-in to checkout I was impressed. I arrived before my room was ready but the staff kept me updated each time I checked on it. The room was clean and comfy. Honestly there were a couple of things that could be updated but most hotels are anymore. I got a great nights sleep and the attitude of the front desk made my morning. I only stayed one night so I cant comment on anything else in the area.

We recently stayed in room 402. Room was clean with plenty of towels, microwave, small fridge and smaller coffee pot. We were visiting our son so didn't spend much time there. Good: location can't be beat. Easy drive to West Columbia, lots of restaurants within walking distance, Publix across the street. Great: Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Everyone greeted you and were quite polite. Breakfast each morning was wonderful. Great time and money saver. Meh: No maid service the entire time. No one emptied our garbage cans or refreshed out coffee maker or made our bed or gave us fresh towels. I thought that was very strange but I understand that most places are shorthanded on staff so I chalked it up to that I would/ will stay there again.

The hotel was very sketchy. There was remodeling going on, yes but there were stairwells blocked and nasty trash being left in ”cleaned” rooms. There was also men propositioning the young ladies in our group to ”make some quick money”. There were no roll away beds available and the rooms had blood on pillows, coffee cups still in the microwave and adult trash under the counter. The hot plates in the rooms made noises and kept lighting up, like it had a short in it, so we unplugged it because there was no smoke detectors in the rooms. The lady at the front desk was rude when we went to check out. This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at and will never stay with rodeway again. We booked on Comfort Suites site and will be calling to complain to them. The pool was green. The quilts had cigarette burns in it, the air conditioner leaked which made the floor have soft spots. The doors had gaps in the top where it has been kicked in. The electronic door pad was also not working. The window was broken to a room they tried to put us in at first. The dresser was broken and the sheets were stained. I'm glad we had blankets and pillows in the car.

The first challenge here was access. The hotel fronts on Gervais Street, but you have to access the parking lot from Lincoln Street. They have gated parking, but you can press a button to be buzzed in when you first arrive. After that, your room key can be used to access the lot. The sign said that guest parking was $14 per day. Check in was fairly quick. We got a room on the 4th floor (of 5). They had multiple luggage carts of at least 2 different types (I saw at least 4 total), which I pay somewhat more attention to now after staying in a larger place that only had 1... The hotel seemed quiet. Rooms toward the back would probably help in this regard. The location is on a main street in town, about 2 - 3 blocks from the state capitol building complex. It is a short walk (5 minutes or less) to a large number of restaurants or bars in the area. If you are here on a weekend, the Soda City Market is located on (mostly closed for just pedestiran use) Main Street starting about 5 blocks away. Breakfast was included with the stay. It started at 6 a.m. on the Saturday we were there for it. I'd say it was about average for what hotels are providing now, post-Covid. I had enough to eat, anyway. Our room was fine; we only had one bath towel for some reason, but we didn't notice until it wasn't convenient to request a 2nd one. The bed was comfortable. I've stayed in 3 different hotels now in / near Columbia. For staying in the walkable radius of downtown, this is a good option.

I’m guessing there are staffing issues. There’s NO hot breakfast - you have to go to the front desk to get a paper bag with yogurt, oj, and fruit cup. Packaged muffins and coffee were self serve. But there were no signs and no warning in the reservation that this was the only option. I would not have booked there if I’d known and feel like we didn’t get what we paid for. We are on a 16 hour road trip and wanted to start the day with a hot breakfast. The 4 th floor is under renovation as well… doesn’t affect the rooms - just the halls that I could see, but during the week I’m guessing there’d be work going on. The beds were clean and comfortable, but shower curtain is old and stained; floors had trash here and there; phone didn’t work at all (found out when I tried to call the desk to report people arguing loudly in the hallway at 3am); and someone had smoked since the bathroom reeked of smoke. I will say that Justice at the desk was very busy all by himself at 8pm check in but quietly friendly; Matt (maintenance) came and sprayed the bathroom (although it didn’t last). I think the bathroom will need to be scrubbed from floor to ceiling to get the stench away (burn marks on toilet too). So frustrated at inconsiderate people!! The woman at the desk in the morning must have gotten an earful - I don’t fault them for noisy guests. Expected much better from Marriott.
