System Description:

The Dedicated Recirc System converts an existing hot water circulation line into an efficient on-demand delivery system.

The Dedicated Recirc System delivers hot water only when there is a demand:

  • Reducing Energy Costs
  • Virtually Eliminating Pinhole Leaks

When the Flow Monitor detects a hot water demand the Pump Manager turns on the pump and rushes water out to where it is needed.

The Pump Manager will run the pump for approximately 3 minutes to ensure that hot water is available throughout your home.

Hi Everyone! I am starting a new bathroom buildout, which will be at the far end of the house from the hot water heater. I would like to implement a hot water recirculation system so I do not need to run the hot water for a minute to purge the standing water from the hot water line.

I have seen systems that have a return line from the furthest point and feeds that into the hot water tank. I've also seen systems that put a bypass pump under the sink and purges the hot water line into the cold water line, causing a pressure rise at the cold water input of the hot water heater; accomplishing the same thing.

I cannot find any information about which of these systems is best for a new setup. Does anyone have any advice about which I should implement? The run is about 60 feet, so while long, the cost of a return line is fairly insignificant to the whole project. So I would like to use whichever one you all prefer.

Does a recirculating pump need a return line?

Not every domestic hot water recirculation system requires a return line. For residential and light commercial applications, there is another way to save water and maintain hot water at the last fixture.

Can I use PEX for hot water recirculating pump?

PEX manufacturers recommend hot water recirculation velocity to be 2–3 fps. For temperatures up to 140° F (60° C), flow maximums should not exceed 3–4 fps or as otherwise recommended by the manufacturer's guidelines. For temperatures greater than 140° F (60° C), follow recommendations by the manufacturer.
