They're one of the most common fears that people have, and this year, Universal Orlando Resort is placing a terrifying twist on the classic image. ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ is the latest maze to be announced for Halloween Horror Nights 2019, taking place this autumn. The crazed clowns have been a feature of the annual event in Orlando before, and are returning once again to wreak havoc and terrify guests. The all-new chilling mazes will feature more twisted scenes and ghastly gags from the popular MGM horror sci-fi film: Killer Klowns from Outer Space, a 1980’s cult favourite. Scenes will transport visitors to the sleepy small town of Crescent Cove, which has been taken over by a pack of murderous clown-like creatures. Be lured by the sweet smell of cotton candy and ice-cream, and find yourself in an otherworldly circus tent where you’ll come face-to-face with the sinister klowns. You’ll never think of those sweet treats in the same way again! As guests make their way through the Big Top Space-Ship, they’ll witness klowns making cotton candy cocoons from unsuspecting victims. You may even become their next gooey snack… As you pass from one shrieking klown to the next, going through the doomed community of Crescent Cove, you’ll finally end up in an eerie amusement park that is closed for the season. The maze leaves you trapped in a terrifying funhouse full of killer klowns - and there’s no stopping this twisted three-ring circus. The latest maze announcement joins a host of other attractions already announced for the annual Halloween event. Other mazes include Netflix’s Stranger Things, Yeti: Terror of the Yukon, and Ghosbusters, among others.
The Killer Klowns From Outer Space have landed on earth for another Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.  Here’s the official description of the house: “There’s nothing funny about these Killer Klowns who’re back to make gooey, out of this world snacks out of you and your scream squad. If ever there’s a reason people are afraid of clowns, this is it.” A repeat house from 2019, the difference in location lends this house an edge with a better layout, allowing for better sight lines and a more clear flow without dead space. Many of the sets, props, and costumes are reused from the last time Killer Klowns was offered, but somehow it feels bright and new, even better than its first time out. In honesty, however, this could be from a deeper knowledge of the film since its first Halloween Horror Nights appearance. We first went through this maze in 2019 having not seen the film, and then went home to watch it and visited the event again two weeks later. It was a night and day difference as to the understanding and enjoyment of the house the second time through. Now, three years later, we have seen the film a few more times and are more familiar with it than when the house first debuted. This could contribute to how much we enjoyed the house this year. That being said, the layout is different than 2019, almost entirely reversed in fact, and it just fits together better this time around.
