Eliminate Moisture & Contaminants from Gear Boxes, Insulating Oil Tanks, Hydraulic and Lube Oil Reservoirs with desiccant breathers.

CONTACT

Desiccant breathers for oil tanks

Keeping moisture and particulate out of lube and hydraulic oil reservoirs is essential in overall oil cleanliness, including valve failure, corrosion, oxidation, lubrication degradation and loss of oil performance. Desiccant breathers clean incoming air, removing moisture and particulate.

Desiccant breathers reduce downtime and unplanned maintenance and increase service life in gear boxes, especially in humid environments.

Rebuildable Power Breathers

Desiccant breathers for oil tanks

Large capacity desiccant breather. Features a stainless steel body. Internal components, microglass filter, silica gel, foam pad and seals, are sold as a rebuild kit. Best for high volume applications. Lowers cost of ownership in most cases.

Desiccant breathers for oil tanks
  1. Pleated Filter Cartridge – Pleated microglass filter cartridge captures airborne contaminants to 1 micron absolute.
  2. Desiccant – Silica gel strips moisture from incoming air.
  3. Sight Glass Indicator – Silica gel changes color from blue to pink when the unit is saturated and requires rebuilding.
  4. Air Vents – Removable stickers keep breather inactive until installation.
  5. Integrated Standpipe – Open-flow construction provides negligible resistance to air flow and allow oil mist to coalesce and drain back int the reservoir.
  6. Foam Pad – Polymeric foam filter pad captures large particulate, attracts and absorbs oil, and disperses incoming air evenly across the filter cartridge and desiccant media.
  7. Easy to Replace Desiccant Bag – Polypropylene bag has handles for easy removal
  8. Rugged Housing – Robust 304L SS construction eliminates chance of corrosion in high humidity environments.

What is a desiccant breather?

Desiccant breathers are multi-tiered devices installed on your machines to prevent the entry of two crucial contaminants: moisture and particles.

When should we change desiccant breather?

A common question that comes up when discussing how desiccant breathers work is how long do they last? Most breathers last anywhere from three to six months if properly sized.

How do desiccant breathers work?

As air is drawn into equipment through the breather, the layered desiccant filter elements remove particulate while the desiccant beads strip harmful moisture. While in service or during shut-down, the desiccant beads attract moisture from inside the equipment reservoir, actively drying the equipment.

What is breather in oil tank?

Hydraulic tank/reservoir air breathers. Therefore it is important to have a breather to remove both moisture and particles before the air enters the oil reservoir. Air breather benefits: Reduces water contamination Reduces oxidation of component surfaces Eliminates rusting due to condensation
