From Dakota Digital Show It’s no secret that the small block Chevy doesn’t allow much space for an oil pressure sensor. For years, enthusiasts hit the hardware store in search of a few brass fittings to move the sensor up and away from the intake and distributor. This one-piece machined adapter gives you the clearance and flexibility you need in one convenient solution. The 130070 is machined in the USA with a male 1/8” NPT thread to fit your block, plus two female 1/8” NPT threads to accept the sensor of your choice. The female ports are at 45 and 90 degrees, allowing maximum flexibility for a variety of situations. A 1/8” NPT pipe-plug is included to block off the unused port. When your oil pressure sensor is about to fail, the Low Oil light will blink on and off. This can be quite frightening to a car owner since low oil could cause significant damage to an engine. Continually checking your engine oil is not only time consuming but also stressful.
What oil pressure should a 350 Chevy have at idle?Rule of thumb is 12/15 psi oil pressure per 1000 rpm on a healthy Chev small block. Depending on what type of oil pump you have 15 to 20 psi at idle is normal.
Can I drive with oil pressure sensor unplugged? While your car will run without an oil pressure sensor, it is not a good idea to drive without one. The oil pressure sensor (also known as an oil pressure switch) measures if you have the correct amount of oil in your vehicle. Without a working sensor, you won't know if you have the correct oil levels.
