Can you boil water in a yeti rambler

One of the most versatile pieces of outdoor gear to hit the marketplace in recent years is the stainless steel, single-wall water bottle. This rugged vessel is not only crack-proof and crush resistant, but it has a hidden advantage: It can be used to boil water to make it safe to drink.

But before you get excited and start fixing yourself a pot of campfire tea, there are a few things you should know.

First, the bottle needs to be of single-wall construction and made of stainless steel or another fire-friendly metal (titanium is one) with no paint or coatings. Don’t put an insulated or double-wall bottle in the fire. The heat won’t pass through properly, and the bottle will likely explode. Skip the aluminum bottles too, as the metal and the coatings can leach bad stuff into your water when heated.

A second line of consideration is functionality. It’s easier to retrieve noodles or rehydrated soup from and wide-mouth bottle, and they’re far easier to clean than their narrow-mouthed counterparts. The wide-mouths make a great survival kit container, too, as it’s easy to fill them with gear, and get the gear back out again.

Finally, how you boil water in a bottle is important. If you warp the bottle with too much heat, the lid won’t screw back on properly and the bottle loses its water transporting ability. The trick when boiling in these kinds of containers is to place the vessel beside the fire, not in it. Just snug the bottle up in the ashes on the side of the fire, wait for the big bubbles to start jumping, and then feed the fire so that the boil continues for 10 minutes. This will kill all the critters in the water that could sicken you, and keep the bottle cool enough to prevent warping.

Right now, I’m using an 18-ounce Klean Kanteen wide mouth for water boiling and cooking small meals, and a 27-ounce Klean Kanteen Classic for both boiling and water storage. It sure beats boiling a mud puddle with red-hot rocks.

However, this doesn’t mean that all stainless-steel water bottles are not fit for boiling water and cooking.

The single wall stainless-steel water bottles are the best when it comes to cooking and boiling water at camping outdoors living, it’s easy for boiling water and completely safe to fill with boiling water.

Because stainless steel 18-8 is highly resistant to rust and does not need a liner, compliant with California Prop 65 regulations and Title 21 of the FDA Code of Federal Regulations, Non-Toxic, BPA-Free, Reusable, Eco-Friendly to ensure pure taste and no flavor transfer — and the durable construction stands up to whatever life brings. It is commonly used in food preparation, wine making, and brewing industries. It is durable, won’t leach chemicals into your beverages, and does not retain flavors or smells.

Select Rambler® sizes come in a range of Duracoat™ Colors.

Rambler® Drinkware comes with a five year warranty. For more information, please visit our Warranty Information page.

What's the warning label and instruction for use for my Rambler® Drinkware?

Warnings and Care and Use instructions are dependent on the lid or cap being utilized. Rambler® Bottles are not intended for use with carbonated beverages or for storage of perishables, including food and drinks that will spoil. These items can cause pressure to build up over time which can result in the cap being difficult to remove; or, forcefully eject and cause injury. The Rambler® Straw Cap and Rambler® Straw Lid are not intended for use with hot beverages. Please see below warnings to ensure you are using your Rambler® Drinkware and as intended.

Which Rambler® Drinkware is right for me?

The YETI® Drinkware line has expanded a great deal since we first came out with the Rambler® Tumbler. In addition to our tumblers, YETI now offers Bottles, Jugs, Colster® Can Insulators, Mugs, the 10 oz Lowball, Stackable Pints, and the Wine Tumbler. The best answer will depend on what your drinking style is.

If you want your Rambler® Drinkware to be 100% leakproof, we suggest a Rambler® Jug, or a Rambler® Bottle with a TripleHaul™, Chug, HotShot™, MagDock™, or Cup Cap. Even with the MagSlider™ Lid, Rambler® Tumblers are just splash-resistant, which means they’ll keep a drink in its place over a speed bump, but if tipped over in a backpack or jostled in traffic, some liquid will spill out due to pressure releasing inside the tumbler.

If you’re still not sure which Rambler® Drinkware option is right for you, contact our Outfitter team, and they’ll help you out.

How long will my Rambler® Drinkware keep ice?

Due to all the variables that can affect ice retention, we can’t guarantee a precise amount of time that your Rambler® Drinkware will hold ice. However, more ice is better when it comes to your Rambler® Tumblers or Bottles. We suggest filling your Rambler® Drinkware with as much ice as possible.

Ice is melting in my Rambler® Drinkware as quickly as a plastic cup. Why?

We designed the Rambler® Tumblers and Bottles to live up to the YETI standard, which means unbeatable durability and unparalleled ice retention. If you feel like your Rambler® Drinkware is underperforming, reach out about your YETI Warranty. We take pride in the products we make. If anything is wrong, we’ll make it right. Read up on our Warranty Policy to determine if a Warranty Claim is necessary.

Can I get my Rambler® customized?

Yes, customization is available when purchasing through YETI.com. We use a process that creates a permanent finish on the exterior of your YETI® Drinkware. This process creates the most premium, durable finish that won’t crack or peel off over time. It will also keep your 5-year warranty intact and ensures a quality customization process. Is there a maximum temperature limit for hot liquids when using Rambler® Drinkware or Rambler® Lids?

Yes, we recommend temperatures to not exceed the limits below when using the following Rambler® Drinkware items and lids. Our Rambler® Drinkware locks in hot temperatures, so please, always open carefully. Do not overfill. Hot liquids must remain below the solid ring located beneath the threads. Keep hot liquids out of reach of children.

What is the Rambler® Elements Collection?

The Rambler® Elements Collection is a special drinkware line finished with an advanced, fingerprint-proof coating. It’s currently offered in Graphite and Copper in select Rambler® Drinkware models.

How is the Rambler® Elements Collection different from the original Stainless Steel and DuraCoat™ YETI® Drinkware?

As far as DuraCoat™ goes, it’s equally as durable and dishwasher safe, and has the same stainless steel base layer. We just added a thin coating to the stainless steel through PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) to give a brushed Graphite or Copper finish from top to bottom. Each one is coated with the highest-level of UV resistance and layered with an advanced, oleophobic coating (which is science for: it’s fingerprint-proof).

Is the Rambler® Elements Collection as durable as Duracoat™ Color?

Definitely. Like all Rambler® Drinkware, the Rambler® Elements Collection is dishwasher safe and has a strong layer of thick-gauge stainless to resist dents and drops.

How do you clean the Rambler® Elements Collection?

All Rambler® Drinkware products can be hand-washed and are also dishwasher safe. If you’re going the dishwasher route, just make sure everything goes where it should to get them as clean as possible.

  • Rambler® Bottle body: Standing upside down on the top or bottom rack (depending on where it fits best).
  • Lids/Bottle Caps: Top rack of the dishwasher away from the heat.
  • Gaskets: Silverware tray on the bottom rack.

Why isn’t customization available with the Rambler® Elements Collection?

Due to the design of the product and limited marking areas, it’s difficult to promise the quality of customization we’d like to offer. So if we couldn’t do it right, we didn’t want to do it at all.

Will you be making other colors in the Rambler® Elements Collection?

Currently, we only offer Graphite and Copper. But sign up for our emails to stay in the know about potential new color offerings.

Will you be expanding the Graphite and Copper drinkware collections?

Maybe. But for now, they’re offered in all Rambler® 20 and 30 oz. Tumblers, select Rambler® Bottles and Mugs, and the Rambler® 12 oz. Colster® Can Insulator.

Will you be making coolers in this color?

Great question. Currently, this coating is only available on drinkware.

What is different about the bottle?

YETI’s tried and true 18, 26, and 36 oz Rambler® Bottles now come standard with the fan favorite Chug Cap. Previously an optional accessory, this two-part cap features the TripleHaul™ Handle for grab-and-go ease along with an incredibly strong, clear spout for a controlled flow no matter where you go. Shatter-resistant and leakproof, it’s the bottle-and-cap combo that’s up for whatever you throw at it.

Can I still use the old cap?

Yep, all YETI® Rambler® Bottles are still compatible with TripleHaul caps. In fact, each YETI® Rambler® bottle works with our complete line of innovative bottle caps: TripleHaul™, Chug Cap, Straw Cap, MagDock, HotShot™, and Cup Cap

Is the Chug Cap removable?

It sure is. The Chug Cap is made up of two removable parts: The TripleHaul™ Handle on top, and the shatter-resistant clear spout below. When it’s time for a refill or washing, you can remove both pieces for easy access to the inside of the bottle.

How do you clean the Chug Cap?

You can always wash your bottle and cap by hand, or simply let the dishwasher do the hard work. Just remember to put everything in the right place, to ensure each component comes out nice and clean.

  • Rambler® Bottle body: Standing upside down on the top or bottom rack (depending on where it fits best).
  • Lids/Bottle Caps: Top rack of the dishwasher away from the heat.
  • Gaskets: Silverware tray on the bottom rack.

For information on how to clean all Rambler® Caps and Lids visit here.

Can I still buy the old bottle without the Chug Cap?

Once existing inventory of Rambler® Bottles with TripleHaul™ Cap have been sold, all 18, 26, and 36 oz bottles sold will include the Chug Cap.

I just bought a Rambler® Bottle with TripleHaul at my local store – can I get a Chug cap

Absolutely — we still sell the Chug Cap as a separate accessory here.

Can I buy the Rambler® Jr. 12 oz Kids Bottle colored cap separate?

No, the colored Straw Caps were specially designed for the Rambler® Jr. line, but can fit on all YETI Bottles.

Can I use hot, carbonated or pulpy liquids in my Rambler® Jr. 355 ML kids bottle?

Do not use the Rambler® Jr. 12 oz Kids Bottle with hot, carbonated, pulpy or perishable beverages. Over time, food and liquid can cause pressure to build inside the bottle. If pressure buildup occurs, the cap can be difficult to remove; or forcefully eject and cause injury.

Can Insulators

WHAT TYPES OF CANS FIT IN EACH SIZED COLSTER® CAN INSULATOR?

  • 12 oz Colster® Can Insulator fits most standard 12 oz. cans and some longneck bottles
  • Slim Can Colster® Can Insulator fits most slim cans such as those containing hard seltzers and energy drinks.
  • The Tall Can Colster® Can Insulator fits most 16 oz. cans including many craft beers.

WHICH REPLACEMENT GASKET SHOULD I PURCHASE FOR MY COLSTER® CAN INSULATOR?

There are two new replacement gaskets for the new range of Colster® Can Insulators. One size fits the Standard and Tall Can Colster® Can Insulators, and the smaller diameter size fits the Slim Can Colster® Can Insulator.

WHY DID WE UPDATE THE RAMBLER® COLSTER® CAN INSULATOR? WAS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT?

We refreshed the design with a seamless look and an updated Load-and-Lock® Gasket that requires only a quarter-turn to secure.

We added two new Colster® Can Insulator sizes to the suite to ensure we have the best can insulator for your preferred beverage.

Accessories

What is a MagSlider™ Lid?

We're glad you asked. Built for our Rambler® Tumblers, this closable lid harnesses the power of magnets to help protect against splashes on the go. Learn more about what makes the MagSlider so special here or by watching the video below.

Does my Rambler® Drinkware lid close?

Using the power of magnets, your MagSlider™ Lid absolutely closes. If you want the most leak resistance, we suggest a Rambler® Bottle or Rambler® Jug. Even with a MagSlider™ Lid, the Rambler® Tumblers are leak-resistant, not leakproof. If tipped over in a backpack, or jostled in traffic, some liquid will spill out due to pressure releasing inside the tumbler.

How do I clean my MagSlider™ Lid?

The MagSlider™ Lid is dishwasher safe and easy to clean by hand. Just pop off the MagSlider, rinse it off and return to the Slider Lid. That's it! Learn more about the MagSlider and cleaning info here.

Can I purchase the MagSlider magnet part separately?

Yes, you can purchase the MagSlider Replacement Part here.

I purchased a Rambler® Tumbler but it didn't come with a Magslider™ Lid. Can I purchase one now?

We think some products are best used at Base Camp, but if you’re taking your Rambler® Drinkware on the go, yes, you can purchase the MagSlider™ Lid.

The following products come with a MagSlider™ Lid: Rambler® 10 oz Tumbler, Rambler® 20 oz Tumbler, and Rambler® 30 oz Tumbler.

What’s the difference between the MagSlider™ Lid and the Stronghold™ Lid?

The original MagSlider™ Lid is splash resistant, comes in three sizes, has a single-sliding magnet, and presses on. As for the Stronghold™ Lid, it’s leak-resistant, special-made for the Rambler® 20 oz. Travel Mug (which means it only comes in one size), backed with double-magnet technology, and twists on for an extra-tight fit.

Does the Stronghold™ Lid fit my other Rambler® Drinkware?

This lid is special made for the Rambler® 20 oz. Travel Mug and won’t fit with other Rambler® Drinkware models.

Is the Stronghold™ Lid leakproof?

The Stronghold™ Lid is leak-resistant (when closed) thanks to its dual-slider magnet technology that adds a strong layer between your free-flowing drink and the outside world. That said, don’t even think about throwing this mug inside your bag. If leakproof drinkware is what you’re after, check out our lineup of Rambler® Bottles and leakproof bottle cap accessories including the HotShot™ Cap, MagDock™ Cap, and Cup Cap.

How do I clean my Rambler® Drinkware?

We suggest using YETI Cleaning Tablets however all Rambler® Drinkware products are dishwasher safe. If you’re going the dishwasher route, just make sure everything goes where it should to get them as clean as possible.

Rambler® Drinkware body: Standing upside down on the top or bottom rack (depending on where it fits best).

Lids/Bottle Caps: Top rack of the dishwasher away from the heat.

Gaskets: Silverware tray on the bottom rack.

You can also clean your drinkware with dish soap and warm water or use our YETI Cleaning Tablets. Cleaning Tablets are not to be used with Rambler® Caps or Lids. Do not use bleach or abrasive cleaners. For a more thorough clean, remove gaskets and wash and dry separately before reinstalling.

How do I remove tough stains from my Rambler® Drinkware?

Listed below are some techniques to give your Rambler® Drinkware a deep cleaning that will remove tough stains.

  • YETI Cleaning Tablets - Fill your Rambler® Drinkware with hot water, let it sit for 30 minutes and then proceed to dump, scrub, and rinse thoroughly.
  • Stainless Steel Cleaner - Apply hot water and the stainless steel cleaning solution to a soft sponge, mixing thoroughly. Proceed to wipe and rinse your Rambler® Drinkware clean. Please note that we still recommend cleaning your Rambler® Drinkware with soap and hot water.

How do I remove rust from my Rambler® Drinkware?

Stainless steel is rust resistant, but not rust-proof. If you are experiencing rust on your Rambler® Drinkware, you can follow these techniques for removal:

  • Stainless Steel Cleaner - Apply hot water and the stainless steel cleaning solution to a soft sponge, mixing thoroughly. Proceed to wipe and rinse your drinkware clean.
  • Baking Soda or Vinegar – Sprinkle baking soda or vinegar on dampened affected area, let it sit for 5-10 minutes and scrub with a non-abrasive or soft sponge.

Can you put hot water in Yeti Rambler?

As for our bottles, they go wherever there's a need for ice-cold or piping-hot beverages. They're designed for easy loading, drinking, and cleaning.

Can I put boiling water in a Yeti cooler?

Coolers are not designed to be used for cooking. Boiling water can damage the plastic. Coolers can also harbor millions of germs from other foods such as raw meat.

How long will boiling water stay hot in a Yeti?

The YETI Rambler Bottle will keep boiling water “hot” for four hours, probably a little longer, in temps around freezing.

Can you boil Yeti cups?

Again, the rationale was pretty simple here too. Yeti tumblers are a rugged 18/8 stainless steel pretty hardcore construction. That everyone knows. They can take literal boiling water without experiencing any damage.
