Call of duty black ops cold war nintendo switch

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been tearing up the charts so far, and has pretty good reviews for such an old series. The game’s doing well on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC… but what about the Nintendo Switch? You might be wondering if you can pick up the newest CoD for the most popular mobile gaming console out there. Unfortunately, we have some bad news.

Is Black Ops Cold War on Nintendo Switch?

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is not currently out on the Nintendo Switch as of writing this article. In addition, the developer Treyarch has offered no information regarding moving the game over to the Switch console.

There is a slim chance that we might be getting the Black Ops Cold War on Switch, but it’s slim. Call of Duty is familiar with working with Nintendo and Call of Duty: Black Ops was actually available on the Wii. Modern Warfare 3 got to the Wii as well, and Black Ops 2 and Ghosts were both on the Wii U. Treyarch worked on some of those ports, so they are familiar with working for Nintendo machines. However, without any games for Nintendo consoles, including the Switch, in the past seven years of CoD games, we probably should not get too excited.

In Treyarch’s defense, Call of Duty has never faired well in the lineup of motion control consoles like the Wii and Wii U. The games usually had to downgrade in quality, and the gameplay controls of having to aim down a Wii Remote always felt clunky. There are some nice elements to the Wii games, and they are charming, but it was always a headache to port and they’ve probably grown sick of having to make so many of them. Especially since CoD doesn’t work so well on mobile consoles in the first place, as it is hard to play an FPS without an actual controller!
