We thought this was just ok. Even with the red pepper flakes we felt it was bland. Might make again adding more spices. Thanks.

This was very good considering how easy it was. I had to used ground red pepper instead and also sprinkled some black pepper on the meat as it was cooking. Excellent week night dish!

Good golly Miss Shapeweaver! This was comfort food at it's best!! I used ground turkey and I had to use minced onions so I could hide them from the man. LOL! Otherwise,I followed the recipe as written. I served this with Recipe #9055 on the side and even though I doubled the recipe,I was told that I didn't make enough!! This will be made regularly here. Thanks so much for posting!!

shapeweaver, made this for lunch today, and boy was it good! Hubby especially loved it, as he enjoys spicy dishes. I did however made a few modifications when preparing it. I only added 1/2 cup of milk, and added 2 tablespoons of a cheese powder, which I had gotten at a Mennonite Store, and didn't use seasoning salt, but rather regular table salt, plus I baked it in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes, and then 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Topped it with 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese, then baked it in the oven for about 2 minutes to melt the cheese. Also, I don't think grocery stores no longer carry (5-1/4 oz.) boxes of Au Gratin Potatoes, as mine was (4.9 ounce) and it was Hungry Jack Cheddar & Bacon Potatoes, (with Immitation Bacon Bits added) but I didn't even notice them in it when eating the casserole. Bet this could also be made with regular boxed scalloped potatoes. For those who prefer to make this a bit less spicy, I'd say to just add 1/4 teaspoon of the red pepper flakes, and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper. Thank you shapeweaver for submitting this delicious tasting beef potato recipe. It's a keeper!
We enjoyed this, but next time will season it up a bit more. I used leftover taco meat for my ground beef but it still needed a bit more for our tastes.<br/>Voted it a Keeper!

Even my very picky boys liked this! I didn't have frozen potatoes so just diced and boiled some, they were a little bland so I think next time I will add some garlic salt. I also added some sauteed mushrooms to the beef, will definently put more of those in next time!!!! Definently a keeper!!

This is a great comfort food dish. Easy to make and very tasty. I halved the recipe and cooked it in an 8 x 8 baking dish. The O'Brien potatoes I purchased had chopped onions and peppers in them so I omitted the chopped onion listed in the recipe. Although I halved the recipe I still used almost a pound of ground beef. All the ingredients worked well together. I especially liked the cream of mushroom soup/sour cream mixture. Went together quickly and I soon had a filling and delicious dish on the table. Made for May 2010 Aus/NZ Swap.
