La roche posay toleriane double repair moisturizer reddit

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer is my holy grail. I've been through countless moisturizers and it's the only thing that works as an overnight moisturizer. So why change? It's very expensive, $20 a bottle, and each bottle comes with barely any in it. It's simply too expensive to keep using it, but it's the only thing that works! Unfortunately my skin is super sensitive to almost everything, especially cetyl alcohol and cetaryl alcohol (really almost all fatty oils and acids).

I need something cheap enough (or where the bottle is plentiful enough) where I can slather it all over my face, but where the ingredients are similar to what's in La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer. Preferably something non-flaky. This would be something I apply before going to bed, so it doesn't need to be a daytime moisturizer.

Here are the ingredients to La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer: Aqua / Water (La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water) / Glycerin / Dimethicone / Hydrogenated Polyisobutene / Niacinamide / Ammonium / Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate / Myristyl Myristate / Stearic Acid / Ceramide Np / Potassium Cetyl Phosphate / Isobutane / Glyceryl Stearate Se / Sodium Hydroxide / Myristic Acid / Palmitic Acid / Capryloyl Glycine / Caprylyl Glycol / Xanthan Gum / T-Butyl Alcohol / Acrylonitrile / Methyl Methacrylate / Vinylidene Chloride Copolymer / Tocopherol. Product packaging may vary.

Comedogenic ratings don’t mean much because they’re not standardized nor regulated. What breaks out one person does not always break out another.

Also consider that formulation plays a large part on how the ingredients interact with skin.

I’ve used the spf version of that product and never had an issue with it. You can search the sub for reviews for that particular product

I started using it about a month ago and am happy with it. It feels very moisturizing but not heavy and the finish isn’t shiny. That said, my skin is not very oily so I’m not sure if this is at all helpful to you.

My skin is incredibly sensitive and I love it.

I have oily skin that breaks out easily from products, I’ve been using this for a few months and am pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. Skin looks great, no issues

if u don't mind me asking what cleanser do u use with the double repair

I love it; does it’s job. My skin is normal oiliness and a little acne prone.

I actually think that it’s not moisturizing enough. My skin soaks it up so fast I have to reapply a lot, but I live in a super dry climate. But it doesn’t feel oily or like it clogs pores if that’s what you are worried about. Pretty basic moisturizer

I have combination skin that is very sensitive. That being said, i used it in the past and for some reason it pilled on me and wasn't moisturizing enough.

I want to love this product—it feels immensely hydrating when it doesn’t pill—but I have had far more pilling days than not and feel my skin is only really getting moisture from my PM routine. I’ve tried adding more moisture via gel creams or toner sprays, adding nothing at all, waiting several minutes after my micellar water cleanse…I simply cannot find a pattern to latch onto for the days this LRP product works.

My AM routine atm (only time I use LRP double repair):

  • Remove overnight Aquaphor with Garnier Micellar Water (waterproof formula, blue cap) on a bamboo cloth

  • Spritz of Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender recently removed this to see if it helped (it didn’t)

  • Wait a few minutes

  • LRP Double Repair

I have mild oily skin and found washing with my typical cleanser in the morning (CeraVe foaming face wash) to be too drying, so I leave that cleanse for the evening. It’s worth noting I live in dry SoCal which is a daily uphill battle as far as moisture is concerned.

Any insight welcome

Edit: Thanks to the tips from others below im on day 2 without pilling! Here’s my updated AM routine:

  • Remove overnight Aquaphor with Garnier Micellar Water (waterproof formula, blue cap) on a bamboo cloth

  • Exfoliate with Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (so far 1x/week) / Splash warm water on off days

  • Lightly pat with towel to remove a little moisture

  • 6-8 sprays of Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender; aka re-wet the face

  • LRP Double Repair, rubbed in hands and lightly patted onto face

  • If an outside day (lol) wait 5-10 mins before SPF
