How to find email groups in gmail

After logging into your Google account, access contacts from the Google home page or the Gmail window by clicking the Apps icon (9 dots) in the upper right corner and scrolling down to Contacts as shown. Alternately, Contacts can be accessed at contacts.google.com in any browser.

In the Contacts app, click the Create contact icon in the upper right corner. Then click Create a contact.

A form displays providing the opportunity to add First name, Last name, Company, Job title, Email address, various Phone numbers, and Notes. The Show more option at the bottom opens up many more fields such as Birthday, Website, and Custom.

When the information has been entered, click the label icon (right-facing arrow) to the right of the contact photo area, and select a label from the drop-down menu if desired. Then click Save.

Click Contacts on the left sidebar. Hover the cursor over the contact you wish to edit and click on the pencil icon to the right as shown. The Edit Contact window displays—the same window you saw when you created the contact. Make any necessary changes and click Save.

In Google Contacts, find the contact to delete. Hoover the cursor over the contact and click on the 3 vertical dots at right as shown. On the More actions menu, click Delete from the drop-down menu that displays.

Google will display a small confirmation window asking "Delete this contact?" Click Delete.

You can organize your contacts into groups by creating a label and attaching a group of contacts to it. [The previous user interface referenced "groups" but now uses "labels."] The lower part of the left sidebar lists the default labels and any that you create.

To create a label, in the left sidebar beneath existing labels, click + Create label. Type a label name and click Save.

There are two ways to add contacts to a group label: from the list of contacts, or from an individual contact profile. If you want to add multiple contacts to a group label, use the first method.

A. Add One or More Contacts to a Label

To assign one or more contacts to a group label, return to the list of contacts. As you hover over the colored circle to the left of a contact's name, a box displays. For every contact that you want to add to a particular label, click in the box to put a check in it.

When done selecting contacts, click the Manage Labels icon above the list of contacts as shown below.

Then, from the drop-down list of labels, click the applicable label and click Save. The "checked" contacts are now added to that label.

B. Assign a Label from the Contact Profile

Click on a contacts name and click the Label icon below the contact's name. Select (click) the label to add the contact to and click Apply at the bottom of the Manage Labels window.

It can be difficult to even see the "Apply" line at the bottom; but the contact will not be added to the group label if you fail to click Apply.

How to Remove Contacts From a Label

There are two ways to remove a contact from a label: by clicking on the label or the contact. If you want to remove multiple contacts from a group label, use the first method.

A. Remove One or More Contacts via the Label

Click the label name on the left sidebar. The group of contacts assigned to that label display at right. For each contact to be removed from the label, hover over the circle to the left of their name and click in the box to enter a checkmark.

When finished, click the 3 vertical dots "More Actions" and click Remove from label. The contact is removed and a message indicating this, along with an "undo" option, flashes for about 5 seconds at the bottom of the window.

Alternatively, a contact can be individually removed from a group label. Click on the contact and click the Label icon below their name. Then click the label name to remove it from the contact's profile.

From the list of labels on the left sidebar, hover the cursor over a label and click on the pencil "Edit" icon. The Rename label window displays. Enter a label name and click Save.

From the list of labels on the left sidebar, hover the cursor over a label and click on the trash can icon that displays. The label is immediately deleted and a small message "Label [name] deleted ... undo" appears at the bottom of the window for about 5 seconds before disappearing.

It would be nice if were a confirmation window instead to ensure the user wanted to delete the group Label.

How do I access email groups?

From the mail view, tap the account (3 lines) icon at the top left corner of the app. Tap the drop-down arrows to the right of the Microsoft 365 email account which has groups enabled to expand a list of folders for that account. Tap on Groups to open it in the mail view.

Where is the group icon in Gmail contacts?

Click Gmail at the top-left corner of your Gmail page, then choose Contacts. Select the contacts in the Contacts list. Click the Groups button .
