29,752 Positive Cases Confirmed in Athens-Clarke County, 233 Deaths as of October 1, 2022
The state Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) case tracker (//dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report) confirms 29,752 positive cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), including 233 deaths, in Athens-Clarke County as of September 1, 2022. For more details and statistics, visit the DPH daily status report website.
These are cumulative positive cases total since February 25, 2020. For reference, numbers from the beginning of each month:

If you view the data, please be sure to check the area showing the definitions of the information presented. Some, such as "hospitalizations," have different meanings than what may be expected.
NEW from the CDC: Know Your COVID-19 Community Level
The CDC's new COVID-19 Community Levels is a tool to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest data for each area. Levels of transmission in an area can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area. Take precautions to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 based on the COVID-19 Community Level in your area.
As of November 14, 2022, COVID-19 Community Levels of transmission in our North Georgia Health District counties are as follows:

Latest COVID-19 Vaccine Updates:
The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) follows the guidance and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) for all COVID-19 vaccine, at all stages of dosage, including the Updated Bivalent COVID-19 Boosters. Access the latest recommendations for all approved doses of COVID-19 vaccine and eligibilities HERE and note that all COVID-19 vaccine doses are available with no appointment needed at each county health department in the North Georgia Health District.
North Georgia Health District 1-2 of Georgia DPH wants to ensure all residents and communities in Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens and Whitfield counties have easy access to the latest COVID-19 information, testing and vaccination updates as well as all recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This continues to be an evolving situation and information is subject to change, so here is where you can conveniently link to all updated information from both Georgia DPH and the CDC.
There have been over 2 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia and over 30,000 thousand related deaths. However, there is now over 6 million Georgians fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including nearly 250,000 residents in the North Georgia Health District.
