Delta diner diners drive ins and dives

For the past 13 years, Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives has been highlighting some of the most beloved restaurants in America, including eight in Wisconsin. The restaurants chosen run the culinary gamut, showing the rest of the U.S. that Wisconsin isn't just about cheese curds.

Here's every place Fieri has stopped at on his way to Flavor Town, listed in order of their appearance on the show:

These restaurants have closed since the episode featuring them have aired:

  • Comet Cafe in Milwaukee
  • Cempazuchi in Milwaukee
  • Kounty Quarthouse in South Range
  • Shorty's Pizza and Smoked Meat

We would like to welcome you to our three unique food experiences, here in Delta Wisconsin! Delta Diner is a throwback to the 1940’s East Coast diners that dotted the roadsides, only we’ve upped the game at every level. The TapShack delivers a seasonal Island Vibe in an outdoor setting serving up Jerk chicken, pork, fish, and many traditional sides including rice and peas, callaloo, and seafood fritters. While on site, be sure to enjoy premium scooped ice cream, acquire some Diner merchandise, or sip one of our assorted coffee drinks – all available at our seasonal venue Taste Budz. Chef Luke Zahm stops at the Delta Diner in Delta, Wisconsin to find out why owner Todd Bucher decided to open an old-school diner in the middle of the north woods. From there, Luke visits the Ashland Baking Company and the Sixth Street Market: two local food producers that work collaboratively with the Delta Diner to create mouth-watering meals.

There are quite a few companies building new “old” diners. While some had been around since the heyday of diners (i.e., Paramount), others were relatively new to the game. We seriously looked at both but realized that the diners they were producing seemed to lack the character of the old originals. They were a shiny, almost garish version of the classic diner. Based on this we decided to restore an old diner.
