Customer Reviews (5)Top Review Summary
(Average 5 out of 5 stars) (57%) 4 of 7 customer would recommend this product to a friend. How long does a century pool motor last?Pool Motors come in two general types – copper winding and magnetic drive. Copper winding motors are old technology at this point when they spin they create a lot of friction and therefore heat (wasted energy) and their life is usually 3-5 years in most southern regions.
Is a 2 speed pool pump better? At River Pools, we used two speed pumps for years with great success. They are quite a bit more expensive to purchase than single speed pumps and last the same amount of time, which is typically 3-8 years. On average, a two-speed pump will save about 50%-70% on energy cost compared to a one-speed pump.
Can you just replace the motor on a pool pump?Replacing the entire pump can cost twice or even four times as much as replacing the motor. Some pool repairmen might try to talk you into replacing the entire pump, but you'll actually be better off with a simple pool pump motor replacement.
Can I put a variable speed motor on my pool pump?Variable speed pump replacement motors can be installed on existing single-speed pumps. Upgrading to a variable speed motor is all that is necessary to convert pools into high-efficiency systems. Service technicians should select the variable speed motor that is appropriate for the size of pool, plumbing and pump.
