Yes you can switch your sim card into your new phone but the phone must be unlocked or the sim card must be compatible with the carrier locked phone.

When i say the sim card must be compatible with the phone, I mean to say that the sim must be same carrier with the phone if the phone is locked.

For example, you have an AT&T or a T-Mobile locked phone, the sim card must be AT&T or T-Mobile in order to work on the phone.

If your sim card is T-Mobile and you bought a locked AT&T mobile phone, definitely the sim card will never work unless you unlock the phone.

However, if you have a T-Mobile sim card, and bought an AT&T unlocked phone, then you’re good to go cause definitely the sim card will work on the phone.

Where the problem lies is buying a carrier locked sim card or probably a  carrier locked phone, you cannot use any other sim card on the locked phone except for the carrier network.

Copy the contacts to the sim card

Select on iCloud by tapping on the button. Immediately your sim contacts will be imported into the icloud which you can later import the contacts into your new iphone.

FOR ANDROID PHONE

Get started by opening the contact app, and depending on the Android phone you’re using, tap on the menu button.

The menu button is the three horizontal line icon located left corner of your screen (hamburger menu). So kindly tap on the menu button.

Immediately you tapped on the menu button, some options will be displayed to you and this includes manage contacts. Tap on the manage contacts to open another window.

On the next windows are different functions which includes the followings;

• Merged contacts
• Import or export contacts
• Move contact
• Syn contacts
• Default location storage

kindly tap on move contacts. You will see all the options available on your screen and this include phone, sim card, and your email accounts.

SIM cards of few years back are nano sim unless you have a micro sim which will definitely not fit into the new phone. In this type of situation you will have to buy a new sim card and swap the old sim card with the new sim card.

Here, swapping a sim card means to move all data from old sim card to new sim card including the old sim card phone number. You can contact your network service provider for more information on how it can be done.
