Best health insurance for mental health coverage reddit

Hi everyone

I have a question about insuring an international student who would legally not be able to apply for Dutch national health insurance.

They have a pre-existing mental health condition that requires psychotherapy. Previously they were insured at AON, but AON only covers up to 8 sessions per year. This was not enough and so they're looking to switch. What are the options available? Legally they're not allowed to be insured by a Dutch health insurance company, but do they check this?

The insurance deadline is around the corner and I am looking for a better insurance where I can see a weekly or biweekly therapist, a psychiatrist, and hopefully get my current adhd diagnosis accepted or get a new one.

I currently have Kaiser (HMO) and while it’s great for the physical issues I have, the mental dept. is downright shit. 1 appointment for a therapist every 2 months is not enough for someone with anxiety, depression, adhd. They also put me through a 1 year process for an adhd evaluation and the result was atrocious - so I paid out of pocket elsewhere and have had to pay out of pocket for medication because they wouldn’t accept an outside diagnosis or prescription. I can’t afford to keep going out of network so I’m looking for a better option.

I put off switching last year because I’m terrified of being out of the medication I need for a physical condition cause I don’t want to end up hospitalized if it goes untreated. Please help!

I moved here 6 months ago from the US and am needing some help with my mental health. I can't wait for the NHS and I need a specialist anyway, so I'm looking into other options. Problem is, I have no idea how the health insurance system works here; it looks like it's similar to the States but that you can still be denied for preexisting conditions and that some of them don't cover mental health. Considering I specifically need help for mental health stuff, I'm asking if anyone knows which companies cover mental health in their policies and what I should expect the cost to be.

Hey guys, I have problems with depression and I've been a member of kaiser insurance through my father's HMO plan since forever but I am fed up with them.

I hate that I have to argue with my doctors to order a simple lab test.

I hate that when scheduled for therapy they'll basically say that the next appointment is 2 months from now. (6 therapy sessions a year is NOT enough for someone who is severely depressed.)

I hate that whenever I want to see a doctor outside of a kaiser facility I need to get a reference and approval from my primary care physician. (Which they are happy to fight you on and deny you)

I hate that my psychiatrist denied me genetic testing for medication to check for side effects. Especially when I'm having all kinds of side effects from medications prescribed to me.

I just HATE that I feel like I'm not in control of anything regarding my own health. My doctors are in control of everything regarding my health and EVERYTHING has to be approved by them. When it comes to severe depression it seems to me that kaiser is absolutely HORRIBLE and that I cannot rely on my doctor(s) at all. I don't feel like they give a shit whether or not I end up dead but my mental health has been deteriorating these past few months and it's been completely debilitating.

I'm 21 years old and a college student who currently works part time in california. Are there any medical insurances out there that are better for mental health services because I am so fed up with kaiser.
