90 day fiance fat guy no neck

90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days, Season 4 brought Big Ed to TLC viewers’ screens. The short man with no neck became the subject of body-shaming from the day the preview dropped. It turned out he’s a little eccentric, laughs at himself, and is a successful photographer. He also suffers from Klippel-Feil syndrome. While he laughs a lot, Big Ed’s also human and hurt by all the body-shaming trolls. He grew emotional as he slammed people who do that.

90 Day Fiance – Big Ed’s short neck comes from a rare skeletal problem

TV Shows Ace reported in late February, that Big Ed trollers should think twice. That’s because he suffers from Klippel-Feil syndrome. (KFS). The physical deformity comes from a skeletal condition inherited genetically. Essentially, he looks like he has no neck as two of his seven neck bones are fused together. We noted that it seemed odd that people body-shamed him. After all, reality TV fans don’t go around body-shaming the likes of Matt Roloff from Little People, Big World.

However, despite our report calling on people to think twice about body-shaming the 90 Day Fiance star, it still persists. Big Ed noticed that and he got very emotional about it. ET reports that he “fought back tears” when he spoke to Lauren Zima. Big Ed said he was cautioned not to read what fans of the 90 Day Fiance franchise say. But, it’s his season, so naturally, he wanted to know what they thought about it. To his horror, much of what he sees is plain hurtful about his physical deformities.

Big Ed’s happy he managed to comfort someone with the same condition

While Ed’s upset at the hate that goes his way, there’s one silver lining that makes him happy, He talked about the young man who reached out to him. Fans saw his post on Instagram where he mentioned someone with the same condition also suffered body shaming. Ed got a letter from him and he felt in awe of Ed for going on TV. Ed told him, “Do not let this syndrome define who you are. And that’s how I’ve always kind of lived my life.” Ed was concerned that because people mocked him, the young man wanted to just give up on life.

Moved to tears, Big Ed comforted the young man. But, for Big Ed, the body-shaming from 90 Day Fiance fans really hurts. He slammed people who do that. Ed told ET, “I think if people really knew how it affects people when you make fun of somebody, they wouldn’t do that.” Ed notes how “unkind” it is to “make fun of someone’s physical appearance.” He thinks “it’s not a good idea.”

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days viewers keep asking about Big Ed Brown‘s neck issues. And some people have been making unkind memes and nasty comments on social media. So, Ed addressed some of the chatter and confirmed he’s got a medical malady responsible for what’s going on with his neck. Check out what he said.

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days – Ed Brown Faces Fan Criticism Over Age Difference & More

Every season, 90 Day Fiance fanatics mock the lovelorn on the reality show. This season on Before the 90 Days, Big Ed Brown’s already taking heat. But, then again, Ed’s self-confessed a lot of his sins even before the comments began to accrue. First, Ed admitted he ruined his marriage by cheating.

Second, Ed Brown said he’d been less than honest with Rosemarie. Of course, 90 Day Fiance promo editing made it sound like he said he’s six feet tall. But, no. Ed’s fib was much smaller. He stands 4’11” and told his future fiance he’s 5’2″. That’s not so bad in the grand scheme of things on a Sharp Entertainment program.

Finally, 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days‘ Ed Brown acknowledged the significant age gap. His family doesn’t like it. But he vowed to work things out with his daughter Tiffany Brown. Aside from the small fib on his height, it looks like Ed Brown’s been honest with his Filipino girlfriend. They video chat and she’s seen exactly what he looks like and how old he is.

Before the 90 Days: Big Ed Brown Addresses Neck Haters – He’s Got Klippel Feil Syndrome (KFS)

One thing you have to give to 90 Day Fiance‘s Ed Brown. He’s open to discussing his issues and doesn’t hide anything. Not his hair dye or mayo-based conditioning treatment. So, when it comes to his physical appearance, Big Ed’s very open. And recently, he discussed the obvious issue happening with his neck – and explained it.

A 90 Day Fiance follower sent Big Ed a letter that said he’d been “teased all his life” because he’s got “a short neck and small stature”. Then, he said the fan told him he’d been diagnosed with Klippel Feil Syndrome and asked if Ed also has that genetic condition. He said, “Big Ed has KFS – I’ve had it all my life… but I refuse to let that define who I am”.

Then, Ed Brown offered all his 90 Day Fiance fan with KFS some advice. He said, “Be yourself and accept you for who you are”. Then, Ed said, “People are going to think what they’re going to think”. Then he finished with “Love yourself, man”.

What Exactly is KFS – Klippel Feil Syndrome

KFS syndrome, as 90 Day Fiance cast member Ed Brown has, is a rare disorder and is congenital (meaning you have it when you’re born). At least two neck vertebrae in Klippel Feil patients are fused from birth. That’s why their necks are shorter than “normal”. Those with KFS also suffer mobility issues in their upper bodies.

You can see this when you watch Ed out with his adorable dog Teddy on Before the 90 Days. He seems stiff when he bends over – that’s the Klippel Feil at work. In addition to the physical issues with KFS, it can cause chronic headaches, plus neck and back pain. It’s rare and only about 1 in 40,000 infants are born with it.

You can see from the 90 Day Fiance comments above (see on photo of Ed Brown with a friend), that once word spread about Big Ed’s KFS syndrome, many backed off making comments about his physical appearance. This is a birth defect and one that Ed Brown likely struggles with every day due to pain and prejudice against his appearance. Keep watching TLC’s Before the 90 Days for more on Ed Brown and Rose.
