Below I have put the instructions for replacing the rear linings with Electronic Park Brake. When I discovered that my rear linings needed replacing I got the parts and figured as I always do when replacing my own brakes it would be a hour job and not have to pay someone for something I can do. Very soon into the job I realised that the Electronic Park Brake (EPB) was going to be an issue. After research on the forums I soon realised that you needed a computer to retract the EBP motors to push back the pistons to get the new pads in. After an hour of searching one post referred to the instructions in the actual of the box of the new pads. I looked and true as nuts there were the instructions from Volvo without having to use a computer to retract the rotors. So I took some pictures of the procedure hoping this will help other DIY folks. Please note that this worked for this helps Good luck!

Procedure to Fix XC60 Electronic Park Brake
- The red arrow show the housing for the electronic brake motor
- The green arrow shows where you remove on of the bolts holding the housing. There is another bolt lower down
- The red arrow show the housing removed from the calliper
- The green arrow shows the calliper and where the spline key fits in to pull back the rotor
- Once you have inserted the spline key turn it CLOCKWISE. You will need to turn for a while
but it will eventually
stop. That means you have retracted it completely. You will see that I have removed the calliper completely for
illustrative purposes. It is easier to keep the calliper on as it makes it easier to pry the piston back to make space for the new pads. If you have removed the calliper you will probably have to bolt it back for better leverage. - You can at this stage after you have turned the rotor back put the housing back or you can put it back at the
very end - With the calliper back you can pry back the piston to make space for the new pads
- You will need a 13 & 15 spanner to take the calliper off. The red arrow is the 15 spanner
- The green arrow is where you hold the bolt with the 13 spanner
- The red arrows show the new clips in place
- The red arrows show the new pads in place
- You can then put everything in reverse order-I hope this helps
