Jan 25, 2019 can someone tell me were the crankshaft position sensor is located on my "03" V6 Tacoma, is it behind the crank pulley? Joined Jan 9, 2009 · 2,516 Posts
ignore Google keywords: crankshaft position sensor 5vz tacoma This is for a Rav4, but it should be the same spot, as it's the 5vzfe engine, I could be wrong. ------ Joined Oct 23, 2010 · 11

Jan 25, 2019 thank you but that is the camshaft position sensor, I'm looking for the crankshaft position sensor, I saw the camshaft one when I did the timing belt Joined Dec 9, 2003 · 48,401 Posts
The FSM isn't much help. The sensor is apparently low on the front of the engine block, because you have to remove the engine under cover (shield thingie) to get to it. Here (attached) is the 2003 5VZ crankshaft position sensor replacement section from the FSM. The cryptic illustration is the only graphic the FSM provides for the sensor's
location. 10.5 KB Views: 637 Joined

Jan 25, 2019 Thank you, was hoping you would reply, down in southern Baja and I got a po335 code was trying to remember how all that is put together down there from when I did the timing belt about 20k ago and neglected to bring my FSM. Man that is a pretty "cryptic illustration" hoping I don't have to pull the crank pulley to remove the lower cover, but I think I
do. Joined Jan 9, 2009 · 2,516 Posts

Thanks Man,
you sure can see it there, and the pulley/dampener has to come off before that lower cover can come off, looks like I might be wrenchin in the sand!
Thanks again, Bob

The crankshaft angle sensor is a little bit buried under some brackets. Here is a guide that will give you an idea of what you are in for when doing the job.

Here is some diagrams for both 4 and 6 cylinder engines (below)
Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
Cheers, Ken
