sounds like your torque converter isnt locking up anymore... time for a new one

You could have a couple of issues, one a bad torque converter. Which I've only seen on really high mileage cars. Or, a solenoid that's good electrically but doesn't send the fluid to the right place to allow the clutch to lock up. Time to bring it in to either Honda or a good indy shop to allow it to be properly diagnosed. Depending on
your mileage, you may fall under Hondas goodwill on that trans.

so do you know how much is it to get it fix? just wondering.... how much the estimate of the cost would be....

I can't tell you a good estimate without knowing what's really wrong. It can range from about $100, for the basic diagnosis at a Honda dealer all the way up to $4,000 for a replacement transmission if that's the worst case.

How did you make out with this? I hate to revive an old thread, but I ran into the same problem today. Code P0741, Torque Converter CKT performance or stuck off. I have an appointment to take it in to Honda next week and am wondering what to expect.

If it's under 100k, I would take it to the dealership immediately as it's very likely that most of the repair (if not all) will be covered. If it's over 100k, I'd still take it in as there's a chance that they'd goodwill part of the repair. If all else fails, call
H&A Transmissions and order a remanufactured unit from them. They re-manufacture transmissions in-house and they supply remanufactured units to Honda. If a shop installs the transmission, you have the option of a lifetime parts and three year labor warranty. They quoted me 2k for a remanufactured unit including shipping with a 1-yr/unlimited mileage warranty.

I have a 2n hand Honda Accord V6 2005 model car and maintenance done as per manuals but now Check engine light turned on. I did a code scan and getting code P0741. This is an issues with transmission power. I did some google and found that Honda had this manufacturing defect in this model and lot of car were recalled for this reason. I strongly feel that my case is genuine and with
refrence to NHTSA Campaign ID number : 11V395000, my vehicle should be considered for this recall by American Honda . I am hoping that my case is further reviewed by American Honda Customer Care Executive team for further review. On that note, I do hope to receive a resolution response , in a timely manner, from your executive team or someone else that is in a position to do the right thing and restore my faith in American Honda.
I found NHTSA
Campaign ID number : 11V395000 addressing similar problem and as of 23rd September 2014, 1.5 million (1512107) vehicles has been recalled for similar issue.The Honda recall number is R89 and the recall was placed on August 27th 2011, for Honda Accords 2005-2010 for the transmission.
This issue is transmission power is not working as expected and it jurks while changing gear or speed. This is dangerous from driving safety point of view.

I have a 2004 accord ex v6 w 130,000 miles. I got a po741 code. I changed the tranny fluid 3 times and new filter. It worked for about 50 miles then started acting up again... like it is slipping & shifting in and out of gear. I want to replace the torque converter clutch solenoid but can't determine which one it is or it's location... where is it? What
are the chances this will solve the problem? Do I need to replace ALL the tranny solenoids. I'm sure Honda will tell me I need a new $4000 tranny. Thank You, glynn

I should have known better then to buy a car without getting it checked first. I talked to a couple people and they told me to replace solenoids but i havent tried it yet. Is there anyone that can help me please

per the advice given to you by a couple of people? Define "completely ripped off"? Did you pay $10,000 for an Accord with 350,000 miles?

please As what chris918 asked - has the trans. fluid ever been changed ? Ask the seller when it was changed, inline trans. filter changed, & type of fluid used. Pull the trans. fluid dipstick ( 1 min. after the engine is warmed up / shut off) & check for fluid color & fluid level (make sure car is on level ground). You do have a 6 cyl., automatic ? Those trans. pressure switches only last a few yrs. on the 6 cyl. as others have stated. Let us know what you
have found out. How many miles on the car ?

Shadetreetech Honda recommends a fluid change every 30,000 miles. I change fluid and filter as a PM practice, the filter is only $9. This is the least costly investment you can make. Once you determine your problem is not terminal internal damage. The A/B Dual Linear Shift Solenoid is the answer to the PO741 code, located on the
front of transmission. This is s dual solenoid mount easy to spot, relatively easy to access and replace. $50 ~$60 on ebay.(as of 01/08/2018) Good luck, hope this helps.
