Q: Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 2001 Ford Explorer?

The 2001 Ford Explorers fuel pump relay is located on the fuse panel in the passenger compartment under the dash on the drivers side.

Hi, I'm having a little trouble with my Sport Trac. A few weeks ago, It didn't want to start so I did what any person with a little mechanical knowledge would do.I tried to eliminate the possibilities of where the problem could be. Turns out, I wasn't getting no fuel. I immediately thought it was my fuel pump but later remembered that I once had a Topaz that I crashed and didn't want to start later because the Inertia switch kicked on. I figured, ah, what the heck? I'll try and reset it and maybe that will solve my problems. Well, as soon as I did, she fired right up like nothing ever happened. Well today, I get in my truck and start reversing down my driveway, the truck shuts off again and doesn't want to start.I reset the inertia switch yet again, wondering if it would work for me a second time. And it did. My question is whats Happening that my fuel Inertia switch keeps tripping? Do I have a faulty fuel Pump? Or is it just the switch that needs replacing? Or am I waaay Off and it is something entirely different? Any Help would be Greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The fuel pump shut-off switch is a device intended to stop the electric

fuel pump when your vehicle has been involved in a substantial jolt.

After a collision, if the engine cranks but does not start, the fuel pump

shut-off switch may have been activated.

The fuel pump shut-off switch is

located in the passenger's foot well,

by the kick panel.

Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.

1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.

2. Check the fuel system for leaks.

3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by

pushing in on the reset button.

4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and

return the key to the OFF position.

5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system.

2001-2010 Ford Explorer Fuel Pump Inertia Switch Location – The third-generation Explorer was no longer based on the Ranger.
